The idea behind the Wienermobile came to life in 1936 when Mayer’s nephew, Karl, came up with the idea to drive around town in the Wienermobile in order to promote their family’s hot dogs and other products. 

The rest was history as it didn’t take long before the Wienermobile became an icon in American pop culture. The Wienermobile has since grown and changed with the times of course, but even if people don’t know that it’s supposed to promote Oscar Mayer’s products, many people can still recognize the Wienermobile for what it is.

That’s actually why, in 2019, Oscar Mayer rented out one on AirBnB. While that was likely just a novelty experience to celebrate National Hot Dog Week, Oscar Mayer is offering something similar for people thinking about marrying their significant others during these difficult times. 

According to Thrillist, Oscar Mayer is now offering people the opportunity to rent one of its Wienermobiles for a wedding proposal. That being said, anyone who signs up for this service won’t actually get a chance to drive around in the Wienermobile, according to Thrillist. Rather, the Wienermobile will just show up at a certain time and surprise your significant other.

When the Wienermobile shows up, you can propose then and there, and the beloved car will also serve as an interesting backdrop for the pictures that a friend may be taking of the proposal. That being said, anyone who wants to do this will have to sign up well in advance, as there aren’t that many Wienermobiles to go around.

Is this a good idea?

There are no rules and regulations for how someone proposes to the love of their life, so at the end of the day, it’s up to you to figure out if this is a good idea. However, there are plenty of reasons why it’s a good idea, especially in 2020. 

While many people will propose to their significant other in intimate situations, other people propose in public.
