I recently interviewed some friends about their Chrysler Pacifica minivans. They are best friends, mothers, and they have matching mom cars too. One of the biggest takeaways from our interview is that there is one 2021 Chrysler Pacifica feature worth trading in your 2020 model for.

One of the women bought her Pacifica last year and has a 2020 model. The other ordered a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica soon after it released and has had it for just a few months. Both of these moms are in love with their vans––despite never thinking they’d own one. However, the 2020 model year owner is just about ready to trade up to a 2021 Pacifica for this one amazing and family-friendly feature.

Car seats in the Chrysler Pacifica

According to the Car Seat Lady, there is a plethora of ways to get car seats into the Chrysler Pacifica in both the 7-seat and 8-seat models. If you have children, odds are you’ve dealt with rear facing child safety seats. That rear facing child safety seat protects smaller toddlers and infants from serious and horrifying injuries in the case of a crash.

So, we buckle our beloved and squishy little pride-and-joys into their rear-facing seats and hit the road. First-time parents often have to learn the hard way that once you are driving you can’t see your child in that rear-facing child safety seat. It’s terrifying! So much so, in fact, that mirrors of various shapes and sizes are marketed just for rear-facing car seat visibility.

One way that you can install car seats in the 2020 and 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is in the second row. You’ll tether it down either to a secured base or directly into the seat using LATCH points. However, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica also has an ace up its sleeve.

Which minivan models have rear cabin cameras?

Both the 2021 Honda Odyssey and the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica have rear cabin cameras. According to Cars.com, both minivan models give us the timeless and uncanny parental power of “eyes in the back of our head.” That’s because the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica has a special camera view specifically designated for that rear-facing car seat. They call it the FamCam, and it is next level.

Not all families (particularly those with children that have already exceed height/weight restrictions and switched to a forward-facing position) will deem this feature a must-have. Still, if you have rear-facers or plan to increase the number of people in your family by adding an infant at any time during the ownership of your Pacifica, this exclusive 2021 Pacifica feature could be a deal-breaker.

Is it worth it for 2020 Chrysler Pacifica owners to trade up?

After talking with friends, it became apparent that some moms and dads might really want this feature. In fact, the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica owner claimed multiple times that she’s eyeing the 2021 model and she and her husband were considering trading up. This mom totes a rear-facing youngster.

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica owner carefully chose each element in the build. Their family kept in mind that she will soon have a new baby to put into a rear-facing seat. Babies are typically in their rear-facing position for at least 2 years. This rear-facing camera view is an absolute must-have for a family with a baby on the way. In fact, it’s the reason her family chose the Pacifica over all of the other minivan models on the market.

Ultimately, this feature is what sold the 2021 Pacifica to this particular family. Now, our friend who drives (and really loves) her 2020 model is considering a trade just because of this awesome family-friendly feature. If you are shopping for a minivan, check this interior camera system out. It may make its way to the top of your list of considerations––especially if you expect a rear-facing car seat to take up residence in your minivan.
