SUVs have steadily increased in popularity over the past several years, and hybrids have too. So, it makes sense that the popularity of hybrid SUVs would be increasing as well. In fact, many manufacturers have worked to including hybrid SUVs into their lineup, giving buyers more and more options year after year. Picking out a new hybrid SUV can exciting, and to drivers who are new to owning a hybrid, it can even seem a bit intimidating. According to Edmunds, however, these are some of the best options on the market today.

The Ford Escape hybrid

The Ford Escape is one of the manufacturer’s popular SUVs options — though not the most popular. Not quite as big as the Expedition, the Escape offers just enough space and practicality without feeling like you’re driving a large SUV. With the option for a hybrid drivetrain, the Ford Escape is elevated to a new level of responsible car ownership without sacrificing an enjoyable driving experience for improved fuel economy.

The Honda CR-V Hybrid

According to Edmunds, the Honda CR-V Hybrid is one of the best SUV options on the market today. It is just 0.1 points below the Escape for overall scores, according to the website, making it reasonable to pick one over the other just based on your own personal preference. The Honda CR-V Hybrid has everything you love about the standard CR-V without sacrificing a decent driving experience and improves upon it with a hybrid drivetrain.

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid

The Toyota Highlander is one of the most underrated SUV options of the year, and with the addition of a hybrid drivetrain option it only seems to get better. It offers everything that the standard Highlander does — comfort, an enjoyable driving experience, a comfortable ride quality, and with the hybrid drivetrain it gets a boost in fuel economy that makes it an even more responsible option for a family vehicle.

If none of these options feel right for you, there are still plenty of other options for a highly recommended hybrid SUV. This is just one of the many lists created by Edmunds to showcase some of their favorite pics, but there are other lists that follow luxury hybrids and break down the lists even further to separate hybrids from plug-in hybrids, too.
