A luxury car typically costs more upfront than a car in the non-luxury segment. So it’s important to know that you are paying for something with reliability to justify the extra initial cost. These are the most reliable luxury cars of 2020.
The most reliable 2020 compact luxury cars
For CR, there weren’t any luxury cars classified as “entry-level luxury” earning a perfect 5 out of 5 for predicted reliability. So we’ll just jump right into the compact car class. These two compact luxury cars are 2020’s most reliable, according to the CR reliability rating.
2020 Audi A4
This is a very popular and affordable car in terms of luxury segment pricing. This is the fourth model year that the Audi A4 model earned perfect CR reliability ratings. The Audi A4 isn’t just a reliable car, either.
It was rated #1 out of 16 tested luxury cars with a total score of 87. This is definitely a luxury car worth the higher dollar amount due to its reliability and overall pleasing nature. CR says “In the sports sedan tug-of-war among Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the A4 now prevails over its peers.”
2020 Genesis G70
The G70 is often overlooked as a luxury vehicle, and it shouldn’t be. The Genesis G70 was the CR #2 compact luxury car. With an even more affordable price tag than the Audi A4, the 2020 Genesis G70 compact car appeals to a luxury audience.
This sedan earned an overall score of 82, and CR said “From the first mile, the G70 comes across as well-tuned, with a welcomed balance of performance, ride, and handling.” While it may have a little less power than others in its class, it seems to make up for it with its high predicted reliability score.
2020 Lexus IS
The Lexus IS is another 2020 compact luxury car that earned a 5 out of 5 for CR reliability ratings. But CR did not like this car nearly as much as the other two on our list of the most reliable luxury cars of 2020. The 2020 IS earned an overall score of 69 and, in spite of its history of high reliability ratings, is not recommended by Consumer Reports. Over the years it proved to let its owners down.
The most reliable mid-size cars of 2020
Mid-size luxury sedans are a popular class. These cars offer a bit more space and often a more luxurious cabin experience due to their size. But w can’t assume they are all reliable. According to CR, these are the most reliable mid-size sedans on the 2020 market.
2020 Lexus ES
Where the 2020 Lexus IS let the Lexus brand down in terms of satisfying customers, the ES model makes up for its shortcomings. It earned a 5 out of 5 for predicted reliability, an overall scoring of 87, and starts just under 40 grand. Its impeccable reliability history backs up the “absorbent ride and indulgent interior.”
2020 Lexus GS
It’s no surprise that the Lexus GS is the third Lexus on our 2020 luxury car reliability list. In spite of relatively poor gas mileage, CR still recommends this Lexus sedan. Additionally, it earned another 5 out of 5 reliability rating this year, adding to a long-running history of perfect reliability scores. CR points out that “the GS is one of Lexus’s best sedans which successfully melds luxury and sportiness.”
