The Chevy Silverado 1500 is currently one of the most popular trucks on the market. It has plenty of powertrain options, a smooth drive, and a spacious interior for both passengers and cargo. For 2020, the truck’s maximum towing capacity increased to 13,400 pounds, beating out the Ford F-150. The truck comes in six different trims, but there are also some special editions to choose from.

These Silverados have cool exterior designs and some even have internal upgrades that really set them apart from other trucks. These unique models include the Special Ops Edition inspired by Navy SEALS and the Realtree Edition with a black and camouflage paint job. We’re also fans of two other options: the Rally 1 and the Rally 2.

The Rally 1 limited edition Silverado

One distinctive trait that both Rally editions share is the black stripe on both sides of the truck and its hood. Both of these special appearance packages were released for the 2015 model year.

The Rally 1 can be purchased in either black, white, silver, or red. It sports black mirror caps and door handles, along with black 20-inch wheels. Both trucks also have a black bowtie badge in the center of their grilles.

The Rally 1 kit is available for the custom model of the Silverado with a double cab. These models come standard with cruise control, a keypad on the driver’s side door for keyless entry, and a six-speaker audio system. Available upgrades include truck bed lights, satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The Rally 2 limited edition Silverado

This special edition appearance package is available for both the crew cab and double cab versions of the LT Z71. It has the same color options as the Rally 1, with some extra exterior features. The Rally 2 has four-inch round assist steps for easier entry and exit. Its wheels are also two inches larger than the Rally 1. 

Engine options

Both the Rally 1 and the Rally 2 have a good selection of engines. The base offering is a V6 4.3-liter engine with 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. The Rally 1 can also have a four-cylinder turbocharged engine or a 5.3-liter V8. The latter boasts a power output of 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, this will get you to get the best towing capacity.

The Rally 2 can also have the 5.3-liter V8. Drivers can also opt for the six-cylinder turbodiesel or the 6.2-liter V8. This engine has the most power out of the three, with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Rally 2’s extensive technology

The Rally 2 has more technology offerings than the Rally 1. Each Rally 2 comes with a standard All-Star package. This bundle includes interior comforts like dual-zone climate control, a 10-way adjustable driver’s seat, a power outlet, an 8-inch touchscreen, and an upgraded audio system.

It also has some performance enhancements, like a rear-window defroster and remote start. The Trailering package also comes standard with the Rally 2, which comes with a backup camera, a locking differential, and a trailer hitch.

Which Silverado should you get?

The Rally 2 has more features for the buyer who’s more tech-savvy, but the price is also a big factor for many consumers. According to Kelly Blue Book, the Rally 1 will add around $1,140 onto the Custom Silverado. The Rally 2 is more expensive, adding up to $7,260 onto the LTZ’s price, depending on which engine you choose.

While both trucks have a good amount of power, the Rally 2 can tow more thanks to its stronger engine choices. Since both of these special edition Silverados are nearly identical in appearance, you’ll get the same bold styling no matter which one you pick.
