These Subaru SUVs Predictably Appeared on This List
When it comes to popular car brands that have the sales figures to match, Subaru will predictably make the list. That’s exactly the case with the 2021 Subaru Forester as well as the 2021 Subaru Outback. Here’s a look at just how many of these Subaru SUVs have been sold so far in 2021.
How well these models have sold so far
With so many options on the market, Subaru has managed to nab two spots on Car and Driver’s list of the 25 best-selling cars so far in 2021. These sales figures are for the first quarter of 2021, so obviously, things will change as the year goes on.
Regardless, the Outback was the 19th best-selling car so far, with 41,503 units sold. This is a 27 percent increase over the last year, according to Car and Driver. On top of that, the Outback continues to dominate the station wagon segment, as it’s the only station wagon that has sold any large amount of units.
The Forester, meanwhile, was the 17th best-selling car so far as it has sold 47,964 units. Plus, since no other Subarus sold better than the Forester did, the Forester is currently Subaru’s best-selling model of the year. Just like the Outback, the Forester also saw a significant jump in sales compared to last year. Car and Driver said that the Forester is currently selling about 22 percent better than it did in 2020, which isn’t really surprising.
How the 2021 Subaru Forester compares
While the Subaru Forester was only ranked 17th in terms of sales so far, it’s probably a better SUV than most. Indeed, Consumer Reports gave the Forester a lot of praise, as it received an overall score of 89 out of 100. This made the Forester the best compact SUV on the market.
The 2021 Honda CR-V, which was the fifth best-selling car so far in 2021, was ranked third in its segment by Consumer Reports. This shows that at least compared to its rivals, the Forester isn’t selling as well as it could be.
However, that may change as customers become aware of how great of an SUV the Forester is. At a starting price tag of just under $25,000 MSRP, it’s a fairly affordable SUV. Plus, as Consumer Reports wrote, it’s a reliable car with a lot of standard features, and it has few, if any, issues. For example, the only flaw that Consumer Reports noted was that the Forester’s engine made some unpleasant engine noises, and that’s about it.
The 2021 Subaru Outback is a unique SUV
Like Car and Driver wrote, since the Subaru Outback has the market cornered in the station wagon segment, it’s tough to compare the Outback to others. But, at the end of the day, it’s still an SUV, and there are rival SUVs that have a similar size to the Outback. That being said, Consumer Reports once again wrote that the Outback was the best SUV in its segment.
The Outback had an overall score of 86 out of 100, which made it the best midsize SUV, according to Consumer Reports. But, just like the Forester, the Outback isn’t selling as well as it could be, as a few of its rivals are selling better.
But once again, the Outback is a worthy option for customers as it brings a lot of practical features to the table. At a starting price tag of just under $27,000 MSRP, it’s a very affordable SUV for what it offers. Like the Forester, Consumer Reports said that the Outback has very few flaws and plenty of standard features. Like any other Subaru, the Outback is also a very reliable car, so it’ll continue being useful for a long time.
