So, its ability to fold up and away is a real bonus for RV interiors that are notoriously tight on space. So, a Murphy Bed in an RV only makes sense, right? Well, the folding wall-beds are not as common as you might think. Here are some travel trailer RVs that include the feature.

The single-axle KZ RV Sportsmen Classic 170 MB is a travel trailer measuring under 22 feet in length. It only has a 2,900 lb. dry weight. Gross vehicle weight comes in at 3,500 lbs. The trailer can sleep three, has a twin burner stove, fridge, microwave, dining area, full bathroom, and of course, the fold-down Murphy Bed. While the bed is folded up into the wall at the front of the unit, the floor space does not seem claustrophobic.

2020 Keystone RV Passport 216RD (WE)

The double-axle Keystone RV Passport 216RD (WE) is a travel trailer measuring just under 25 feet. It weighs in at 3,925 lb dry weight and gross at 6,000 lbs. The unit can sleep four. Its Murphy Bed is at the front of the unit. A nice u-shaped dining area at the rear is a nice touch. A three-burner cooktop is an unusual bonus in this size RV.

2020 Sunset Trail 185RK

This single-axle RV has a slide-out. Combined with the Murphy Bed, the Sunset Trail 185 RK is a little travel trailer that feels large for its size. The unit can sleep four people and measures in at just under 23 feet. The dry weight of the vehicle is 3,900 lbs, and the gross vehicle weight is 4,800 lbs. The kitchen in this unit runs midway and to the back. It features a dual-burner cooktop, upgraded countertops, a stainless basin, and a large refrigerator. The dinette, of course, converts into a sleeping area, and the Murphy Bed is at the front.

2020 Coachmen Apex Nano 203RBK

The Coachmen Apex Nano 203RBK is a double-axle unit with a slide-out. Interestingly, this RV has an outdoor kitchen set up built right in. This unit can sleep four people. It measures under 24 feet and has a dry weight of 3,916 lbs, with the gross vehicle weight being about 6,000 lbs. The interior kitchen has two burners, a large refrigerator, a twin-basin sink, and a microwave. The main bed area actually has a hybrid murphy bed. The wall doesn’t actually fold down. Instead, it folds.

It is doubtful that the first Murphy Bed creators were thinking of the RV industry when they put together their first examples. But, the industry has sure adopted them since. As can be seen in the few highlights above, the folding beds are a great way to maximize space and get a full-size living out of a smaller footprint. It provides valuable real estate that every camping enthusiast desires. Indeed, the Murphy Bed impact has been very far-reaching.
