Thieves Are Targeting Pickup Trucks Left and Right in This Major U.S. City
If you live in Las Vegas, Nevada make sure you lock your vehicle. Actually, in this Las Vegas pickup truck theft story even securing your truck isn’t always enough. In fact, thieves are targeting pickup trucks left and right in this major U.S. city.
Over 250 vehicles were stolen in that area between December 2020 and January 2021. Of those, pickup trucks have the highest count. According to KTNV Las Vegas, pickup truck theft is more common than we’d like to think.
“I just heard the loud noise of a truck starting up and taking off and I ran outside and it was gone,” said Javon Holloway, a resident of North Las Vegas.

In the news report, we learn that the Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado, and Ram trucks are the most stolen vehicles in Las Vegas. Because of this, KTNV recommends ensuring that all doors are locked and windows are closed. That said, the man interviewed in the report claims that his truck was locked up.
Ford F-250 owner Javon Holloway of North Las Vegas reportedly had his pickup truck stolen right out of his driveway on Monday. Right before midnight, the thief stole the truck that Holloway uses for work. But he’s not the only one. Dozens of trucks have been stolen due to this Las Vegas pickup truck theft.
“It makes you feel violated. It sucks. I mean, that’s my source of income. Without the truck, I can’t work. So, there’s nothing I can do about it but look for the truck,” said Holloway.

Thieves are targeting pickup trucks
The KTNV report tells us that at least 15 of the stolen trucks are Ford F-Series models. In addition, other models such as the Chevy Silverado and Ram trucks are targeted in this major U.S. City as well. Thieves are targeting pickup trucks in North Las Vegas. The police department has yet to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
However, they are coming closer to discovering the identity of at least one of the suspects. Thanks to home surveillance footage, we get a glimpse of a common vehicle at the scene of multiple thefts. In fact, a search on Holloway’s Nextdoor app reveals several neighbors dealing with similar pickup truck theft.
“It looks like the same type of car, a burgundy [Chevy] Tahoe with mixed-match rims. It looks like it’s the same car at all these places,” said Holloway.

While the thieves are targeting pickup trucks, the 250 + vehicles stolen last month in North Las Vegas weren’t exclusively trucks. KTNV claims trucks are targeted for their expensive parts that the thieves can sell. However, other models are being stolen as well.
The police department is surely working tirelessly to end this auto theft epidemic. When you are in a major U.S. city like Las Vegas, however, suspects are difficult to track down. So let this news serve as a reminder to double check that you locked your car and brought the keys inside with you.
