3 Things That the 2024 BMW X2 Absolutely Nails
Most cars have some give and take. For example, the BMW X2 was recently redesigned to incorporate modern luxury features, but it’s not as athletic as the outgoing model. Today I’m focused on the positives with what the 2024 BMW X2 gets right.
Here’s what the 2024 BMW X2 gets right
First of all, the 2024 BMW X2 has significant changes to consider compared to the outgoing model. The interior has a more upscale style and luxury comfort. Plus, it has more passenger space, making it more practical for families.
The tech has been upgraded to the advanced iDrive 9 system. But it’s a bit slower than before. The BMW X2 M35i is a little slower than before. It reaches 60 mpg in about 5.2 seconds instead of 4.9, which is still fast, just not as fast as before.
1. The BMW X2 interior is flawless
The 2024 BMW X2 interior is carefully crafted with attractive, plush materials to provide a luxurious feeling and unique style. The available aluminum mesh is textured with an attractive yet aggressive look.
Faux leather upholstery is available in five different colors with striking accent stitching. Every surface is covered in upscale materials for a blend of high performance and comfort.
The ambient interior lighting is vibrant and the sunroof has the perfect amount of tint to keep glaring sunlight at bay. Also, the curved digital gauge cluster and infotainment screen are built seamlessly into the dash.
However, rear seat space is limited. At 5’1” I felt too tall to fit comfortably and it’s rare for me to be too tall for anything!
2. The X2 is comfortable
The BMW X2 is a bit stiff in Sport mode, but in other driving modes, it’s buttery smooth. The available electronically controlled adaptive dampers quickly settle larger impacts on the pavement.
Also, the available M Sport bucket seats are well-bolstered to hold you in place during hairpin turns. The seats are supportive, plush, and welcoming. They recline pretty far to provide a comfy place to take a break if needed.
The climate control system is on point and rarely needs to be adjusted. There are rear vents for passengers in the back as well.
There are plenty of adjustment controls to find the perfect riding position, but headspace is limited. Also, the BMW X2 is louder than expected at highway speeds.
3. The X2 can handle some off-roading challenges
Despite being a luxury hatchback SUV, the 2024 BMW X2 is surprisingly good in slippery conditions. On roads and trails covered with dirt and gravel, the X2 was impressively stable.
It doesn’t have an off-road mode, but the xDrive dual-mode AWD system delivers a solid amount of power to each wheel and there’s plenty of torque for climbing steep inclines. It’s an extremely intelligent system.
Plus, AWD is standard across the lineup. The X2 has a ground clearance of 8.1 inches, which is a solid start for clearing obstacles. I won’t be surprised if an off-roading-oriented trim is released.
