The Honda Ridgeline has long been Honda’s mid-size pickup truck. It now comes standard with things like all-wheel drive and a V6 engine. The 2022 Ridgeline is also available in four distinct trim levels, allowing buyers to get the proper amount of truck for their needs. And although the Ridgeline is not the best-selling pickup, some shoppers might be interested in it. These five things are things to consider before buying the 2022 Honda Ridgeline.

The 2022 Honda Ridgeline has a standard V6 engine

The new Ridgeline does not have engine options, but it does come standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. Because of this, you will not need to pay extra to outfit your pickup with the power of six cylinders.

The engine that comes equipped to the 2022 Ridgeline makes 280 horsepower and 262 pound-foot of torque. And for most needs, that should ample power for most needs. According to Car and Driver, it has smooth delivery of power and does not feel overly truck-like. The only transmission that comes paired with this engine is a nine-speed automatic. So, you can’t opt for a manual transmission with the 2022 Honda Ridgeline.

The Ridgeline has standard AWD

If you are shopping for a mid-size truck with AWD, you might be expecting to pay extra. The new Ridgeline features standard AWD on all models. And that will give you a pickup that is ready to handle things like inclement weather or even some light rugged terrain.

In terms of suspension, this mid-size truck uses a coil-sprung rear suspension. When compared to the leaf springs of a typical truck, Honda’s version likely rides more comfortably than some of the competition.

The 2022 Honda Ridgeline comes with active safety tech

When it comes to purchasing a new vehicle, you may want something that has modern safety features. The 2022 Ridgeline makes a variety of safety tech standard. Safety features include things like:

  • Standard adaptive cruise control
  • Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist
  • Standard forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking

Depending on trim level, the Ridgeline can come better equipped. There is an available multi-angle camera as well as parking sensors. You can also opt for blind spot monitoring, which will keep an extra set of eyes on the road for you.

This mid-size truck has four trim levels

The new Ridgeline is offered in four distinct trim levels. The base Sport model starts at $38,140. While that may be more expensive than some of the competition, the Ridgeline does come fairly well-equipped, even in base form.

The top trim is known as the Ridgeline Black Edition. It does cost slightly over $45,000, but it does come with leather interior, ambient lighting, and a range of different tech. If you are looking for a higher-end mid-size truck, this one might be right for you.

Critics love the Honda Ridgeline

Consumer Reports and other publications have long favored the Ridgeline. And despite this, sales have never done all that great. In fact, most years it seems that the Honda Ridgeline comes up last in terms of sales.

But, if you do not need a traditional truck and still want the utility of a bed, the 2022 Ridgeline can be a good choice. Especially because it offers things like a comfortable ride.
