The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado offers several packages. Some are rather interesting, while one particular Silverado package doesn’t offer much at all. So which package is this, and is it worth the money you’ll invest?

The Chevrolet Silverado has some tempting packages

There are five packages you can purchase for your Silverado, according to Chevrolet, and the price ranges from $350 to $7,895. These include the ZR2 Bison Edition, Assist Step and Tonneau Value Package III, Technology Package, Assist Step Tonneau Value Package II, and the Dark Essentials Package. 

The Assist Step Tonneau Value Package II adds four-inch black round assist steps that make getting in and out of your Silverado easier. They’re textured to make stepping up more secure and are a black powder-coat color. You’ll also get a tri-fold soft tonneau cover and your choice of Chrome 4″ round assist steps (available on Custom, LT, RST or LTZ) or Black 4″ round assist steps (available on Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss or ZR2) for $1,395.

Next is the technology package, which most shoppers will probably want. You’ll get a rear camera mirror, adaptive cruise control, power tilt and telescoping steering column, and a head-up display for $1,970.

The third package is the Assist Step and Tonneau Value Package III, which costs $2,445. It adds a hard-folding Tonneau cover by Rev that is lockable and easy to latch and release. You’ll also receive off-road high clearance steps. 

The ZR2 Bison Edition is the most expensive, with a price of $7,895. It includes 18″ gloss black AEV wheels, AEV front chassis skid plate, 18″ AEV aluminum spare wheel, AEV transfer case skid plate, AEV rear differential skid plate, AEV fuel tank skid plate, AEV front and rear stamped steel bumpers with heavy-duty cast recovery points, a Multi-Flex tailgate, rocker protection, and AEV branded floor liners.

There is one more Silverado package known as the Dark Essentials that most shoppers will most likely pass on, unless you’re getting a black Silverado.

What does the Dark Essentials Package add?

If you’re interested in the Dark Essentials Package, you aren’t going to get much. In fact, it only adds five things, and they’re all cosmetic. 

The first is that the exterior color is now black, along with trimmed nameplates. You’ll also receive a front black bowtie, along with a black tailgate decal lettering. If you order the Multi-Flex tailgate, this will replace the black bowtie. The 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine or Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel I6 engine will change the engine badges will be black.

Unless you want most of your Silverado to be black, then the Dark Essentials Package isn’t exactly a show-stopper. Still, it only costs $350, so you aren’t investing a ton of money into it. Most shoppers most likely won’t invest the money for a few cosmetic changes.

What else does the Chevrolet Silverado have to offer?

A fully loaded Chevrolet Silverado will set you back around $100,000. That’s more money than most consumers are willing or able to invest. Thankfully, the starting price for a Silverado is around $36,300. 

For this price, you’ll get a truck with 4WD, and a 2.7 L turbo engine that generates 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. You’ll also get a seven-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. 

If you do go with the base trim, you should probably invest the extra money to get the technology package. The Dark Essential package isn’t really worth the money, however.
