This Convertible Costs Over $500,000, and 2022 Is Its Final Year
It’s summertime, which means that the convertible cars are prime to come out and play. Sure, there are plenty of fun and affordable convertible options like the Mazda Miata for the everyman out there. But what about those poor super wealthy folks? They need a vehicle that they can open the top in and let in some fresh air, too!
The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster Costs over $500,000
According to TrueCar, the most expensive convertible vehicle on the market at the moment is the 2021 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster. However, that would be ruling out any Koenigsegg models. For the sake of keeping with TrueCar’s argument, it’s fair to say the Koenigsegg models are more Targa tops than they are convertibles. Then again, so is the Aventador.
Checking all semantics at the door allows us to just admire the Aventador SVJ for what it is. It’s an absolutely bonkers and wildly expensive open-top automotive experience that very few people in this world will ever enjoy. With a starting MSRP of $581,156, it’s one of the most expensive Lamborghini standard production models ever made. So, what does that price tag of nearly $600,000 get you?
Of course, you get the legendary 6.5-liter screaming V12 planted firmly in the middle of the chassis. Obviously, there’s no shortage of hearing that engine in a standard Aventador. However, the added removal of the top will certainly make sure you’re hearing it loud and clear!
The Aventador SVJ makes a whopping 759 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. It puts all of that power down to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It can accelerate to 60 miles per hour in about three seconds and has a top speed of 218 miles per hour.
What’s remarkable, though, is that this isn’t even the most potent offering in Aventador Roadster format. However, it is the last “widely available” one.
Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae Roadster tips the scales in the convertible world
According to Carbuzz, the 2022 Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae Roadster is the most potent convertible Lamborghini model ever made. It features the same 6.5-liter V12 as the SVJ but turns the heat up a bit. The Ultimae puts out a whopping 769 horsepower and hits 60 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds, according to Carbuzz.
Lamborghini is only building 250 examples of the Ultimae Roadster, and they all have already sold out. Unfortunately for Aventador fans, the ultimate is the last offering in the world of not only convertible Aventador models but also to the Aventador as a whole. 2023 will bring the replacement of the Aventador to light.
Overall, while it’s sad to see the 10 years of Aventador dominance come to an end, it’s exciting to think about what Lamborghini is bringing next. Don’t worry, either. Its replacement has already been spotted testing in the wild, and it’s still sporting the iconic Lamborghini V12. In addition, it’s rumored to have some electric assistance so that the V12 can continue life as emissions restrictions continue to tighten around the world.
