When you think of your “dream garage,” it might include something like a Ferrari 488 and a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen, or possibly an Audi R8 and a Ducati of some sort. However, for those that are looking to scale way down on their carbon footprint (and don’t want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars) might think of something a little more practical. Take, for instance, a Chevrolet Bolt and a Pedego electric bike. Would that be a dream garage for anyone looking to maintain an eco-friendly conscience?

It’s an odd pairing, we know

We’re fully aware that proposing that you should drive a Chevy Bolt and an electric bike as your daily mode of transportation sounds about as appetizing as eating peanut butter with pork chops but hear us out for a minute.

The Chevy Bolt is an American-made electric car that can achieve all of your daily errand runs, and most likely your commute to work and back, without any range anxiety. And the Pedego Range rider is a versatile electric mountain bike that can take on just about any trail on the weekends and it provides a quick way around town when you need it. So, would you like smooth or crunchy peanut butter with your pork chop?

Chevrolet Bolt

No, it’s not a sexy and sleek Tesla, but the Chevrolet Bolt does have a good personality. For starters, it has a spacious cabin that’s comfortable enough for five people and a practical hatchback shape to fit all their stuff in the cargo area. The Bolt is also capable of achieving up to 259 miles of range on a single charge and best of all; it’s affordable. With a starting price of $37,495, the Bolt is on par, if not cheaper, than a base-level Tesla Model 3.

But for $4,400 more, you can also opt for the upgraded Premier trim level that will give you leather seats, heated rear seats, ambient lighting, and an upgraded Bose sound system. Other packages that include a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, as well as all of the driver-assist options like blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert, are available too.

Pedego Ridge Rider

We haven’t had a chance to actually check this bike out in person, but we do like the features that it offers and we have a soft spot for anything electric-powered with wheels. If you’re into mountain biking, the Pedego Ridge Rider has a perfect balance for riders of any skill level. It rides on 27.5-inch wheels for great response and stability and has a 500-watt motor that produces 33 lb-ft of torque that can propel you to a top speed of 20 mph on the electric-only for up to 56 miles.

The motor is supplied its charge from a 48-volt battery that is housed on top of the aluminum body frame and the drivetrain consists of Shimano SLX components. There are even five different levels of electric pedal assist and when it’s time to stop, the front and rear Magura LTE hydraulic disc brakes are up to the task. With a price tag of $3,995, the Pedego Ridge Rider is admittedly not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and what you’re paying for is a quality piece that can withstand almost anything you can put it through.

What happens when you put them together?

While you still might be confused as to why the Chevy Bolt and the Pedego Ridge Rider are a great pairing, just think about how much money you can save by never having to the visit a gas pump, on top of all of the fun you’ll have to ride an electric bike. And while it does sound like a tree-hugger’s dream garage, we implore you to realize the money that you could save at the end of the day to buy other things, like a gas-guzzling supercar. Or perhaps, a jar of peanut butter and a large pork chop.
