This Honda Is 1 of the Best and Most Affordable Four-Cylinder Cars You Can Buy
With the rise of SUV and trucks sales, sedan sales are on the decline. Because of this, many sedan models are being discontinued. Rumor has it that the Honda Civic Coupe is on the way out, and now it appears that the Honda Fit will soon follow.
Is the Honda Fit a bad model, or is Honda cutting a great vehicle that consumers actually love? U.S. News seems to think Honda is making a mistake, and here’s why you should get a Honda Fit while they’re still available.
The Honda Fit is one of the best four-cylinder cars
The 2020 Honda Fit may not be the most sought after car in the Honda lineup, but it’s got more than a few perks in its corner. In spite of the fact that it’s a small car, the Fit has a surprising amount of cargo space, which makes going on that long awaited road trip easier than ever.
The 2020 Honda Fit also gets some of the best fuel economy on the market. The Fit gets 33 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. While this may not seem like that big of a deal at the moment since gas prices are the lowest they’ve been in years, that doesn’t mean gas prices won’t go back up. If and when they do, having a vehicle like the 2020 Honda Fit that doesn’t guzzle gas like a competitive eater scarfing down hot dogs will make the Fit seem like a dream come true.
The interior is also very nice. While there is some plastic, most of the surfaces you’ll touch on a daily basis are soft.
It’s also one of the most awarded cars of the decades. That will definitely be a great arguing point if you’re on the fence about what car to buy.
You just can’t beat the price
With so many consumers on a budget, it may feel like you have to buy a used car because you can’t afford a new one. There’s also the fact that many cheap new models don’t really offer that much. The Honda Fit doesn’t fit into that category, however.
Starting at $16,190, the Honda Fit offers a lot for the money. For that price, you’ll get a 5-inch infotainment screen, a USB port, Bluetooth, and a four-speaker stereo.
Even at the top trim level, it only costs around $20,000. For that much, you get a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a navigation system, a six-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, leather seats and HondaLink.
The Honda Fit may not be that great for you
It’s no secret that Honda knows how to make a great vehicle. That’s why the Japanese automaker is dominating sales in spite of Covid-19 putting a damper on production. Unfortunately, while the Honda Fit is incredible for a lot of reasons, the engine is more than a little lackluster when it comes to power.
While there are plenty of drivers who don’t mind having a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that only gets 130 hp, there are a lot of people who do. Some might wonder what the point of buying a sedan is when it doesn’t get much in the way of speed. There’s a reason movies like the Fast and Furious are so popular, after all.
Still, going from 0 to 60 mph in around 8.2 seconds isn’t all that terrible. While there are certainly sedans out there that can go much faster, that’s more than enough power for daily driving.
If that’s not enough for you, then you’ll be thrilled to learn that it’s possible to turn the 2020 Honda Fit into a race car. You’ll need to install a HPD kit, which also requires you register with the Honda Racing Line club, but it’s definitely possible. So while the Honda Fit may not be the perfect sedan, it’s pretty close.
