This Is the Only Way to Set up Your 2021 Kia Sorento if You Wanna Be Cool
Kia has ruled the car scene lately. The Telluride alone has been such a hit that the marque is feeling itself. But, the 2021 Kia Sorento has also been a massive winner for Kia. The Sorento is making waves on its own. Still, following the digital SEMA show this year, the Kia Sorento shows some deeply rad potential for being a true off-road/overlanding monster. The two custom Kias look not only super capable but also extremely cool looking.
These two Kias are coming in hot
MotorTrend highlighted Kia’s badass SEMA builds, and they look great. Both of these Sorentos are based on the Kia X-line which is already a beefed-up, off-road version of the 2021 Kia Sorento. After LGE-CTE Motorsports in San Dimas, CA got its hands on the Kias, they turned an off-road-styled crossover into an honest-to-God dirt eater.
The Kia Sorento Yosemite
The first of the two custom crossovers is the 2021 Kia Sorento Yosemite. This is a purpose-built off-roader that came to tear it up out there. The Yosemite has a heavy-duty roof rack covered in LED auxiliary off-road lights. It sits on custom 20-inch wheels wrapped in a beefy 32-inch tire. To accommodate this tire beef and ground clearance, the Kia was lifted to have a ride height of 8.3-inches. This lift and taller wheels and tires give the custom Kia Sorento a much better approach and departure angles off-road.
The Yosemite Sorento also gets a brush guard, skid plate, and flared out wheel arches. Along with those exterior additions, the Yosemite wears an outdoorsy coat of Pine Green. Kia’s goal was to make the Yosemite more rock crawling and mountaineering focused. The overall package looks very tough and capable.
The Kia Sorento Zion
The second custom Kia Sorento is the Zion. The Zion also has custom 20-inch wheels, 32-inch tires, and a lift giving it a total of 8.3 inches of ground clearance. Unlike the Kia Sorento Yosemite, the Zion was built to be more of a camping/overlanding dessert machine. It wears the color Desert Sand and comes with a full-length camper top to hold all of your camping and overlanding gear.
The Zion also sports a brush guard, LED auxiliary lights, and skid plate. The main difference in the two custom Kia Sorentos is the specifically intended purpose for each and the aesthetic.
The 2021 Kia Sorento X-line is a good place to start
Kia still has some work to do in establishing itself within the enthusiast motoring culture. Many car nerds will opt for a Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco. Yes, those are both far better off-roaders, but the Kia Sorrento will likely whoop both models in comfort and every-day practicality. The X-line makes the overall function of the Sorento a real contender.
I maintain that the Kia Sorento isn’t nearly as cool looking, exciting, or pride inducing than other more classic 4x4s, but these custom ones are a strong step in that direction.
Kia hasn’t made any specific remarks on when or how a Sorento owner could transform their crossover into one of these mini beasts, but if I was such an owner I would be waiting on the edge of my seat to turn my practical crossover into something exciting and rad looking.
