There are so many little SUVs flooding the streets! There is the Nissan Kicks, Ford EcoSport, Kia Soul, Hyundai Tucson, and more. However, no one ever talks about the Chevy Trax. It’s just an easy option to forget due to its underwhelming features. 

Why The Chevy Trax Is Forgotten 

The Chevy Trax is a price-friendly option that you can get started in for about $21k. This price is competitive with the Hyundai Tucson, which starts around $23k and the Nissan Kicks that starts around $18k. 

Also, the Chevy Trax has a fair fuel economy. It gets up to 26 mpg in the city and up to 31 mpg on the highway. 

But those numbers fail to compete against the Nissan Kicks, which gets 31 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. 

Chevy Trax Performance 

The Chevy Trax has a 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that pumps out 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. 

We struggled to find the towing capacity for the 2020 model, but apparently, the 2019 Chevy Trax can tow around 1,200 lb. Some sources suggest that the Trax can haul up to 1,500 lb, but that would strain its weak powertrain. 

Also, we were hoping that because the Chevy Trax is smaller, it would have a better acceleration, but it does not. It takes nearly 10 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. 

So, while this SUV can get you around town, it will struggle to pass other people and quickly accelerate once you turn out into traffic. 

On a positive note, the Chevy Trax is available in all-wheel drive, so it can handle some snow and other slippery conditions. 

However, the AWD option will add extra weight that will impact the fuel economy and slow it down a little. 

The Trax has 16” and 18” wheels available. While the 16” wheels are suitable for city comfort, the 18” wheels will be better for driving in snow and corning. 

But no matter what build you select, the Chevy Trax still receives negative reviews for its loud cabin and bumpy ride. 

Chevy Trax Features 

While the Chevy Trax can seat up to five passengers, realistically it can only seat up to four people comfortably. 

There are 18.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat and up to 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space total. 

At least the front passenger seat folds down, giving you the ability to store items up to eight feet long if needed. The rear seats can also fold completely flat. 

The 8” infotainment center is adequate with the ability to connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. We were surprised that the Trax has a built-in 4G LTE Wi-fi hotspot as well. 

This little SUV is built for driving around the city, and at least it will take you places safely. The Chevy Trax is equipped with ten airbags! Where do they all fit in this tiny option? 

Also, the Chevy Trax has standard safety features like lane departure warning and blindspot warning. However, The Trax has nothing new or groundbreaking to offer.
