This Lamborghini Huracán EVO Art Car Channels The Minotaur
Many people, including those in the MotorBiscuit office, consider cars as a form of art. Though, some see cars as more than an art form but as a canvas for art itself. Imagine having a Lamborghini Huracán EVO as a canvas? Well, you don’t have to because Lamborghini imagined it for you.
Artist Paolo Troilo reinterprets Lamborghini Huracán EVO
If you follow mythology at all, you may be familiar with the story of the Minotaur. The Minotaur is a mythical being that is a hybrid of a human and bull. When you think about it, the Minotaur is a great metaphor for a person driving a Lamborghini. Once the driver steps inside, it is a bit like the melding of a human being and bull. At least, that is how Italian artist Paolo Troilo envisions it.
Troilo was given a blank white Lamborghini Huracán EVO as a canvas to create an original work of art. Troilo chose the Minotaur or “Minotauro” as his theme, hand painting his piece onto the bodywork of the EVO.
“It was inspiring to meet Paolo Troilo and his artistic expressiveness. In our company we are accustomed to art and the way it has always influenced our cars,” said Lamborghini Marketing Director Christian Mastro. “However, when our product and the emotions it brings come together with the sensibilities of an artist like Troilo, something different and exceptionally unique like ‘Minotauro’ is created, and we are very proud of this.”
As you might imagine, Troilo enjoyed the experience of creating his piece on the surface of one of the fastest supercars money can buy. The artist even commented that the work changed his outlook on life.
“Time. I am enamoured with the idea of slowness, and I have always championed it as a key to pleasure, culture, beauty and success. But there are some encounters that change you,” said Troilo. “Seeing the Lamborghini Huracán EVO and trying it out suggested to me that there are also things capable of releasing the same energy with acceleration, with speed, with momentum.”
The Huracán EVO is one of the fastest art canvases in the world
There are plenty of cars that would make suitable mediums for art, but we doubt there are many of them as fast as the Lamborghini Huracán EVO.
Lamborghini claims the Huracán EVO has nearly 640 horsepower and can go from 0 to 60 mph in about three seconds. In fact, the EVO is so fast that DragTimes thought the supercar might stand a chance against the virtually unbeatable Tesla Model S Plaid.
Not all of Lamborghini’s marketing efforts are well received
It seems like the reception to Paolo Troilo’s Lamborghini Huracán EVO art car has been mostly positive. However, not every endeavor carried out by the Italian supercar brand works out as well. The automaker recently attempted to resurrect Countach, one of the most iconic cars Lamborghini has ever created.
Despite the historical relevance of the nameplate, the reception to the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 was mixed at best. While some appreciated a modern take on a legendary supercar, others lambasted the vehicle as a half-hearted cash grab that was nothing more than a re-bodied Aventador overly reliant on 80s nostalgia.
The designer of the original Countach, Marcello Gandini, released a statement distancing himself from the new version, calling it “the negation of the founding principles of my DNA.” Ouch. We guess not all art is appreciated.
