This Limited Edition Jeep Gladiator Puts the Stock Gladiator to Shame
With a name like Maximus, you get the sense that this Limited-Edition Gladiator embodies performance. Does this monster version of the Jeep have the crowds roaring much like Russell Crowe did during his box office performance? When you take a look under the hood, and at the spec sheet, you’ll see why many are claiming this Limited-Edition Gladiator puts the stock Jeep to shame.
Maximus vs. stock engine
The stock engine in the Jeep Gladiator is a beast. The 3.6L Pentastar makes pick up and take off effortless. It’s hard to imagine injecting more power, but Jeep does in the Limited-Edition Maximus.
Hennessey dropped in a 6.2L supercharged Hemi V8 from Dodge’s Hellcat arsenal. They’ve married it with an eight-speed automatic transmission too. Hennessey says you can expect zero to sixty times close to 3.9-seconds. That kind of power might you feeling you’re behind the wheel of a locomotive.
Maximus vs. stock torque
The Maximus’ powertrain offers a hearty 933 pound-feet of torque, making hill climbs and sand dunes feel like pebbles and pavement. It’s also an upgrade from the Jeep Gladiator stock torque stats. The Pentastar engine brings 650 pound-feet of torque.
Maximus vs. stock horsepower
What kind of horsepower does the Hellcat engine give the Limited-Edition Jeep Gladiator? Get your grunt on with 1,000 horses under the hood. With almost 300 extra horses, compared to the stock 707 horsepower output, you could do some serious all-terrain traversing in the Maximus.
Hands-down dominance
The Maximus can’t strap all that power under the hood without offering additional upgrades as well. It might end up being more bacon than the pan can handle if they didn’t. This Limited-Edition Gladiator is almost four times more powerful overall than the standard equipped Gladiator.
So, in addition to the custom leather embroidery that reminds you you’re driving a “Maximus” with a “Hennessey” touch, what else did they beef up about this ride to help accommodate such monstrous roar?
Additional upgrades
The Maximum features an upgraded suspension system, from the stock version, with a lift kit for an added six inches of ground clearance. Totaling 17.1-inches of height will have you clearing almost any terrain with ease. They also include BFG 20-inch KD Off-Road Tires, to make sure you know just how high off the ground you really are.
Elsewhere, this Limited-Edition specimen has new wiring harnesses, a new radiator, a revised fuel system, as well as a new ECU. You’ll have a heavy-duty front and rear set of Dana 60 axles. You’ll love the unique front and rear bumpers, as a distinguishing factor from the stock Gladiator. Only a stainless-steel exhaust would do, too.
How much does this Limited Edition Gladiator cost?
The stock Jeep Gladiator offers a variety of trim levels packages. But, in essence, you can buy one for a starting price of around $35,000. What about the Hellcat-powered Limited-Edition Gladiator? Well, you’ll be paying for all those extras for sure.
Also, due to the limited production of only 24, the price tag will reflect its ultra-limited availability. Sit down to sign papers on the Maximus will have you shelling out around $200,000. Hennessey is offering the 3-year/36,000-mile standard warranty if it helps.
Some automakers introduce versions of a ‘limited-edition’ vehicle, with a few adjustments and enhancements. As for Jeep, however, in partnering with Hennessey, they’ve taken upgrades to an entirely new level. The stock Jeep Gladiator was turning enough heads as it entered the truck stage. The Limited-Edition Gladiator has us all fastening our seatbelts and putting our tray tables in an upright position. In fact, it puts the stock Gladiator to shame altogether.
