This New 2021 Ford Ranger Model Will Make You Jealous
Here in America, one pickup stands out more than some other midsize trucks. The Ford Ranger, which is a better deal than the F-150, offers plenty of features and sleek styling while giving you the capability to tow some big-ticket items.
There’s a sportier version, however, but it isn’t available in the states. You can only find it in the European market. The Ford MS-RT pickup has a lot of similarities to the Ranger, but it’s a little sweeter deal than the American model. Ford Media Center explains what this truck is all about.
What does the European Ford MS-RT pickup offer?
The MS-RT is a sportier version of the Ford Wildtrak trim also sold in Europe. This pickup has a 2.0-liter EcoBlue Twin Turbo diesel engine for the range-topping trim found with this pickup. The motor generates 210 hp and 367 lb-ft of torque. Paired with the impressive engine is a 10-speed automatic transmission, which is the same as what we see with the Ford Mustang sports car.
Towing capacity on the European version is just over 7,700 lbs. The payload capacity is pretty impressive too. You can haul 2,400 lbs of weight with passengers, truck weight, and items in the truck’s bed. The rear-wheel drivetrain comes standard with the MS-RT.
For tech features, you can get Ford’s SYNC 3 and navigational system. It comes with an 8-inch touchscreen that has a user-friendly interface, which makes access to your communication and entertainment apps easy. You’ll also receive a rear-view camera that helps you park or hook up to a hitch on a trailer.
What can you get from the American Ford Ranger version?
According to MotorTrend, the American Ford Ranger pickup comes with a 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 270 hp. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and comes in two-wheel drive.
This Ranger gets 21 mpg on city roads and 26 mpg on the highway. As far as towing goes, you can haul up to 7,500 lbs of weight. The payload capacity on this pickup is 1,860 lbs. Both come in slightly lower than the European MS-RT. Ground clearance for the Ranger is 8.4 inches high.
For the interior, the Ford Ranger comes standard with cloth seating, but you can also get vinyl seats at no extra charge. Cargo space is 26.5 cubic feet, while the front legroom is 43.1 inches. The rear seats have 30.4 inches of legroom and 35.9 headroom.
Many features, like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, are available with the Special Edition Package, which costs approximately $900 more. You can also get privacy glass, an 8-inch touchscreen, and all-season tires.
Why is the European version of the Ford Ranger better?
The Ford MS-RT sold in Europe has sportier styling than you find with the American Ford Ranger. When you look at the front, you can see some sporty details in the front fascia with the honeycomb carbon-fiber grille, which integrates the truck’s fog-lights.
You’ll find racing wheels that are 20-inches and alloy-based. There are also extended wheel wells on the sides of the pickups, along with side skirts, that are sculpted for a bolder look.
This truck comes in three muted colors, which are Frozen White, Sea Gray, and Agate Black. The mirror caps are carbon fiber, and you’ll also get an aerodynamic load bar. The interior offers unique leather trim with orange stitching throughout.
For those looking for sportier versions of the Ford Ranger pickup, the MS-RT would be an excellent choice. However, it’s only available in the European market at this time.
