This Next Level Gladiator 6×6 Is Coming to a Jeep Dealer Near You
Want an easy way to make an already extreme truck or SUV more insane? Give it another pair of wheels. There has been plenty of custom 6-wheeled pickup builds, including several based on the Jeep Gladiator. And now, a California-based tuner with an impressive resume has introduced its own take on the Jeep Gladiator 6×6 formula.
After helping build the Rezvani Hercules, Next Level is making its own Jeep Gladiator 6×6
You might not be familiar with California-based Next Level. However, you’ve likely seen some of the company’s past efforts.
That’s because Next Level helped Rezvani create the Hercules 6×6 and the earlier Tank, Top Gear explains. And in making a Jeep Gladiator 6×6 of its own, the tuner is in rather familiar territory. That’s because both the Tank and the Hercules are based on Jeeps: the former on a Wrangler, and the latter on the Gladiator, Motor1 and MotorTrend report.
Admittedly, the Next Level Jeep Gladiator 6×6 isn’t quite as extreme as Rezvani’s trucks in some ways. The Hercules, for example, is available with a 1300-hp 7.0-liter version of the Dodge Demon’s supercharged V8. And it’s available in bulletproof spec.
Meanwhile, Next Level’s version isn’t armored. And the most powerful engine available is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 with 375 hp and 470 lb-ft, Motor1 reports. There’s also a 285-hp 3.0-liter V6 and a 270-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. If these powerplants seem familiar, that’s because they’re the standard Jeep Gladiator engines, Muscle Cars & Trucks reports.
However, while the Next Level Jeep Gladiator 6×6 isn’t a street-legal tank like the Hercules, it’s still impressively functional.
The 6 wheels aren’t just for show
Like the regular truck, the Next Level Jeep Gladiator 6×6 comes standard with 4WD. However, unlike the standard Gladiator, the tuner’s version has full-time 4WD, Mopar Insiders reports. Next Level also changed the truck’s rear axle ratio and, most importantly, added true 6-wheel-drive functionality. That’s right, this Gladiator really is a 6×6, unlike some other six-wheeled Jeeps.
To improve its off-road chops, the Next Level Gladiator 6×6 rolls on 20” Toyo tires and Fox suspension. And to accommodate the extra axle, the tuner extended the 6-foot bed into an 8-foot bed. The truck also offers an optional steel bumper, bumper-mounted Warn winch and extra off-road LED lights.
Plus, Next Level didn’t just tweak the Jeep Gladiator’s mechanical components. The new 6×6 version has Nappa leather upholstery and well-bolstered sport seats. Plus, powered side steps come standard.
How much will Next Level’s Jeep Gladiator 6×6 cost when it hits dealers?
While the Next Level Jeep Gladiator 6×6 isn’t quite as extreme as the Hercules, it also doesn’t cost nearly as much. The truck starts at $132,000; it’s unclear if that includes the base cost of the donor Gladiator, though.
Also, Next Level’s Gladiator 6×6 will likely be easier to get, because it’s going to be sold in Jeep dealers. Well, a Jeep dealer, the one in Huntington Beach, CA. However, the tuner has plans to expand to other dealers later, Motor1 reports.
