If you want the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX special Launch Edition, then brace your bank account for impact. It may be difficult to find one since the Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition quickly sold out. However, there are some models at Ram dealerships with marked-up models that increase the price by $50k! 

Is the Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition worth the extra cash? 

According to Motor Trend, it’s not uncommon for automotive dealerships to bump up the price on popular vehicles and models in short supply. Dealerships increase the price of a model’s suggested MSRP to make a profit when they sell vehicles. 

However, one Ram dealership in Southern California added $50,000 to the price of a 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition. Good lord! The Launch Edition already had a retail price of $93,000, but now this model will cost about $143,145 after the dealer markup, but before the tax, title, and license fees. 

What is so special about the TRX Launch Edition? 

We know that the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is already a beast, but what extra goodies does the Launch Edition include? It’s worth noting that there were only 702 Launch Edition models made, so they’re pretty unique. 

The Launch Edition includes an exclusive Anvil paint color and more standard equipment. It comes with the TRX Level 2 Equipment Group, which includes: 

• Driver-seat memory 
• Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel 
• A flat-bottom steering wheel with leather and suede 
• ParkSense assistance in the front and rear 
• Pick-up box lighting
• Rain sensitive windshield wipers 
• Remote start 

You also get a special 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition badge so you can show off what you got. The red and brushed-aluminum badger is found on the center console, so your passenger will see it at least.

Are other 1500 TRX models being marked up? 

The base price for the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is about $69,995. This includes the beastly 6.2-liter V8 engine with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. According to Jalopnik, dealerships are adding between $10,000 to $20,000 to the price. Out of the 193 Ram TRX models they saw, listings ranged between $72,000 to $96,000. 

So, to increase the price by $50,000 is outrageous. Whoever springs for that overpriced Launch Edition model better hope that the beast retains its value, or they can wait for the 2022 Ford Raptor R to come out for its V8. 

Also, if you buy this truck, remember that it’s expensive to feed. It only gets about 10 mpg in the city. You may find yourself at the pump a lot more than expected. But your smiles per gallon may increase as you hear your monster truck roar.
