Three of the Best Truck Tires for 2019
Having the right truck for the job is important, but even the best truck still needs tires that can handle everything you throw at them. To help you find the right tires for your truck, we’ve looked through reviews, raw performance metrics, and costs to find what we believe are three of the best truck tires of 2019.
Goodyear Wrangler Radial
Goodyear built its trusted brand through decades of impressive tire manufacturing. That reputation is tested and confirmed in the Wrangler Radial all-terrain tires. They are built on a large tread that enables them to handle mud, rocks and other low-traction situations. In fact, they accomplish this to such an extreme degree that they compete with specialized mud tires.
Despite this, the Wrangler Radials shouldn’t have issues on paved roads or in inclement weather. While some all-terrain tires make sacrifices that show up at highway speeds, this series circumvents the signature hum and shortened life span that plague other all-terrain tires.
The Wrangler Radials are excellent for light and medium pickups, and they can be great for SUVs or vans of similar size. That said, Wrangler Radials are not designed for ultra-heavy loads. If you’re working with a dually or anything of comparable weight, this is no longer the tire for the job.
BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2
The BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 is a monster of performance. It was designed for off-road racing, and that quality of tire is now available for every truck. Often called the KO2, this series is one BFGoodrich should be proud of.
Considering how much engineering went into these tires, it’s no surprise they are top performers. It starts with a unique rubber compound. BFGoodrich claims its secret formula handles normal wear like a champ and won’t wear out as quickly as other off-road tires. That tough rubber is complemented with steel belt reinforcements that take toughness to a whole new level.
With solid materials, the all-terrain tread is downright impressive. These tires are capable of running flat, in any weather, on almost any terrain. If you want to truly test a tire, the KO2 will pass.
Cooper Discoverer A/T3
The third tire on the list is no slouch in adverse conditions. Like the two listed before, the Discoverer A/T3 can handle mud, rocks, snow, ice, and sand without skimping on highway performance. This all stems from Cooper’s one-of-a-kind zig-zag pattern.
A/T3 tires also benefit from a unique rubber compound. This one utilizes a silica blend that makes the tire particularly resistant to chips. That resilience comes in handy when you push these tires off-roading.
What makes the A/T3 series particularly appealing for trucks is its ability to handle heavy loads. For an all-terrain tire, it can handle impressive weights, which makes it competitive for hauling boats or doing intense work where the pavement ends.
When you have the right vehicle and equipment, you’re almost ready to challenge the great outdoors. The final step is to arm yourself with knowledge.
