One of the bright spots for new models in 2022 was the Jeep Wagoneer. However, the automaker is already making improvements to the full-size SUV. For many vehicles, there aren’t a lot of reasons to wait for the next model year. Most will remain the same, and buying the cheaper 2022 model year will save buyers money. However, there are three significant reasons to wait for a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer.

A 2023 Jeep Wagoneer L is coming

According to Car and Driver, one of the new things coming to the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer lineup is a Wagoneer L. Like other Jeep models, attaching an L to the end means it’s getting longer. For the 2023 Wagoneer, it’s no different. A long-wheelbase version of the SUV is coming, adding 12 inches to the vehicle’s overall length. There are a few reasons why this is good news for buyers requiring ample space.

The already spacious Wagoneer will have more passenger and cargo space than ever before. Jeep says the longer wheelbase variant provides owners with a 123-inch wheelbase, 214.7-inch overall length, and 27.4 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the third row. The 12-inch increase comes from seven inches to the wheelbase and an extra five to the rear overhang.

The new and improved twin-turbocharged engine

Next, C/D says the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer now has a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. Moreover, it’s replacing a V8 engine, which was a gas guzzler. Further, the new engine boasts 420 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive is always an available option.

In addition to saving money on fuel, the new engine helps with other things. According to C/D, both rear- and four-wheel drive versions of the Wagoneer will have a 10,000-pound towing capacity rating. That’s a significant improvement over the 2022 model year, rated for 7,170 to 8,790 pounds of towing capacity. The publication has yet to test the fuel economy of a Wagoneer with the new engine. However, we expect it to beat the rear-wheel drive V8’s 16 city and 23 highway mpg.

A new 2023 Jeep Wagoneer appearance package

If you’re interested in buying a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer, you probably love how full-size SUVs look. Whether it’s an Escalade, Navigator, or the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, riding in style is nothing new. One of the most exciting changes for the new Wagoneer is the Carbide appearance package. C/D says it’s a blacked-out styling package that enhances the look of your new Wagoneer.

The new package adds gloss-black wheels, black exterior trim detailing, special interior trim, and unique upholstery. Together they turn the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer into a luxurious full-size SUV with incredible style that will turn heads.

Reasons to wait for the 2023 Jeep Wagoneer

In conclusion, there are a few reasons to skip the 2022 Wagoneer and wait for the 2023 version. First, there’s a new Wagoneer L with a longer wheelbase, adding passenger and cargo space inside. Next, the standard V8 engine is swapped out for a twin-turbocharged inline-six, providing added towing capacity and possibly better fuel economy. Finally, the Carbide appearance package is an optional selection customers can choose for their order sheets. As a result, they’ll get a blacked-out version of the new 2023 Jeep Wagoneer.
