It’s been over three years since Ford Motor Co. announced the return of the iconic Ford Bronco. Today officially marks the reveal date for the 2021 Ford Bronco and we couldn’t be more excited. So much has happened leading up to today’s event so we’ve created this recap. 

First, why the 2021 Ford Bronco is a big deal

The original Ford Bronco was introduced over 50 years ago and basically became an overnight success story. The Bronco was special because it fit the bill as an everyday commuter truck and was capable enough to go off-road for an adventure. Ford designed the Bronco to have a polished and trendy exterior which signaled its versatility.

By now you probably know that Ford ultimately decided to sunset the Bronco due to low sales and the rising popularity of the Ford Explorer. But as the auto industry continues to show us, needs and preferences change. We always thought the Bronco deserved to be revived simply because it matches what buyers are looking for today, a civilized workhorse.

It’s going to be a stampede

The new Bronco shares the same platform as the new Ford Ranger. We know that the Bronco will have a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. We are also expecting a 2.7-liter V6 option as well as a V8 engine. There is even speculation of a hybridized powertrain option later on too.  

We know for sure that there will be a whole family of new Broncos which takes direct aim at Jeep’s current portfolio. There will be the signature two-door body style, a four-door option, as well as the compact Bronco Sport variant. We are also especially excited about the pickup version of the Bronco that we should get by 2024. To sum it all up, the new Bronco lineup is going to be huge. 

Where to watch the reveal

Today also marks when you can officially reserve your new Bronco. Deliveries are expected to take place in 2021.  You can watch the all-new Ford Bronco reveal lineup on Ford’s media channels at 8 PM EDT which also includes the company’s Twitter account, YouTube, and Facebook profile. The reveal will also be available on ABC, ESPN, National Geographic, and Hulu.

Can’t forget about the Bronco short films

As part of Ford’s partnership with Disney, the carmaker will also broadcast three short films as commercials on ABC, ESPN, and National Geographic specifically. This will be the first time a new vehicle will debut on Disney owned channels. This also marks the first time Disney will be collaborating with Academy Award-winning film director Jimmy Chin.

Wrapping it up

Some enthusiasts might be hesitant to believe the Bronco hype. Still, it’s hard to deny that the new Ford Bronco is worth getting exciting about. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, Ford originally planned to debut the new Bronco lineup at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Even though there has been a huge change in plans, we think Ford has done a good job so far in trying to make the Bronco reveal special. Only a few more hours to go.
