This must have been a harrowing experience for everyone involved! But luckily the life-and-death story has a happy ending. [Video embedded below].

In the security camera footage you can see a three-year-old toddler walking across a train platform behind two adults. When they look away he continues to the edge of the platform, turns around, and tries to lower himself down to the ground–down to the same level as the train tracks!

His timing couldn’t have been worse. A bright yellow express train is mere seconds from rocketing through the station without stopping or even slowing down.

The child finds he’s too small to make the drop, falls, and tumbles backward onto one rail of the tracks. At that moment, bystanders realize the terrible danger the child is in. Luckily, everyday heroes didn’t hesitate to risk their own lives and protect the child.

One of the adults who was with the child sprints across the platform. They are joined by a worker in a high-visibility orange suit. Meanwhile, a bystander leaps down onto the tracks. He grabs the boy, lifts him into his guardian’s arms, and then climbs onto the platform himself.

This hero cleared the tracks just in time. In the video you can see the express train rocket by just seconds later.

Station customer service assistant Olivia Timms watched the entire incident. “Thankfully, everyone made it home safely that day and we want to make sure that happens every day…I think the fact a train came through the station at speed just seconds after emphasized just how awful the outcome could have been.”
