Top 3 Features of the 2023 Toyota Sequoia
For 2023, the Toyota Sequoia is all-new. As a completely redesigned full-size SUV, the Toyota Sequoia 2023 does bring a lot to the table. And that should set it up to be a fairly successful vehicle for this Japanese car company. These three features might be the best thing about the new Sequoia hybrid SUV.
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia is a hybrid SUV
For the 2023 Sequoia, each SUV will come equipped with a hybrid powertrain. The engine of the Sequoia is the i-FORCE MAX twin-turbo V6 hybrid, which is the same engine that powers the new Toyota Tundra. It makes 437 horsepower and 583 pound-foot of torque. And that should be ample power for this Toyota SUV.
The EPA-estimated combined mpg for the Sequoia 2023 is 22 mpg. That certainly is not the most efficient number on the road, but for a full-size SUV, it’s decent enough. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. And that should provide a fairly smooth driving experience in most conditions.
The new Sequoia is a three-row SUV
The Sequoia has long been one of Toyota’s full-size SUVs. And that means you can get the benefits of three rows of seating. Depending on which trim you opt for, the Toyota Sequoia 2023 model seats up to eight passengers. But, the Platinum trim only offers seating for seven.
That said, behind the first row, you will have 86.9 cubic feet of cargo capacity. If you plan on hauling large items or want to do a big camping trip with your Toyota SUV, all of that room is likely to be appreciated. Plus, it translates into plenty of passenger room as well.
If you decide you want a second row with some more legroom, you can opt for second-row captain’s chairs. That will reduce seating from eight down to seven, but not everybody needs an SUV that can haul that many people.
One downside of the 2023 Toyota Sequoia is the fact that the third row does not fold flat. That is not necessarily a dealbreaker, but it is worth noting.
The Toyota Sequoia 2023 model has plenty of safety tech
When it comes to a three-row SUV, you likely want your vehicle to come with plenty of safety features. And Toyota has really hit it out of the park with the standard driver-assist tech that the Sequoia offers. Standard fare on this vehicle includes:
- Standard adaptive cruise control
- Standard lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist
- Standard forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking
Because Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 comes standard across the board, you don’t really need to worry about paying extra to get peace of mind. And that is a welcome addition for this hybrid SUV.
How much will the 2023 Toyota Sequoia cost?
2023 Toyota Sequoia prices start at $58,300. That MSRP does make it a fairly pricey SUV, and higher trims can cost much more. According to Car and Driver, the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro will cost you over $75k, but that does mean some legitimate off-road capability.
Overall, if you do want a hybrid SUV with three rows of seating, the new Sequoia does have plenty to like about it. But ultimately, it will likely fall to personal preference on what fits your lifestyle needs.
