TrueCar listed a few of the cheapest luxury SUVs this year, including the 2023 Lexus UX. Some of the positives listed include a comfortable driving position, good fuel economy, and the UX is easy to park. Even though the 2023 UX starts at $36,490, it still has a quality interior. The back row is not the tallest in the group, so some adults might find the cabin cramped.
Lexus offers the UX in a few trim options, the most popular being the UX 250h Premium all-wheel drive which starts at $40,350. This version gets 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. For all options, the combined fuel economy sits between 39 and 42 mpg. The Lexus SUV also gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, In-Car wifi, and remote start.
Lexus added many safety systems, such as Automatic Braking, a Blind Spot System, and Forward Collision Warning. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Pedestrian Detection also come on the UX. For under $40,000, the 2023 Lexus UX seems worth it.
Volvo’s XC40 is another cheap luxury SUV
Even though the XC40 is one of the cheapest 2023 luxury SUVs, it doesn’t come up short on features. The 2023 Volvo XC40 has a small cabin but seats five comfortably. Volvo’s infotainment system is finicky, and the cargo capacity isn’t the largest, so investigate those drawbacks before committing.
Volvo offers it in three trim levels, with the most popular option being the B5 Plus Bright Theme with all-wheel drive. This version starts at around $43,845, but the XC40 starts at $37,445 for the base level. Both options have Adaptive Cruise Control, an In-Car wifi system, and integrated turn signal mirrors.

Don’t overlook all that the inexpensive Cadillac XT4 has to offer
Even though the 2023 Cadillac XT4 is a compact luxury SUV, it has plenty of features packed into a small cabin. It offers a comfortable ride and handles well, plus the turbo engine is powerful enough to propel the XT4 around town. The rear seats are not the biggest, so it might not work out for some. Only one engine choice is available for 2023.
Cadillac equipped the XT4 with room for five and three trim levels. The most popular trim is the Premium Luxury XT4 which starts at $41,390. Otherwise, the base trim starts at $37,490 and still offers plenty. A Start/Stop system helps with fuel economy, resulting in a combined fuel economy of 24 to 26 mpg.

Finding an affordable new luxury SUV isn’t an easy task, but these three options are worth it. If one of the sport utility vehicles is missing an important feature, the automaker probably offers it as an option.
