Hyundai is all over the car game right now. The South Korean carmaker has been steadily changing the narrative for the once budget brand to a now fully-formed, up-scale, reliable brand. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson just received a full makeover to further transform Hyundai into an up-scale marque.

The automotive design aesthetic has become increasingly aggressive over the past few years. Everything is growing sharper angles and more dramatic features. The new BMW 4-series has the exaggerated buckteeth for a grill, the new Toyota Rav4 looks like something from Halo, and the new Hyundai Tucson just got splattered with aggressive lines and harsh corners making for one mean looking SUV.

No. 1: The 2022 Hyundai Grille

The 2022 Hyundai starts with a facelift. The new grille looks pretty damn upset. MotorTrend describes the new grille as “Using kinetic jewel surface details, the grille—and other parts of the Tucson—incorporate rhombus-like shapes, which give it a distinct and attractive look.” The layered shapes almost give a sort of scaly look that unquestionably unique. Just make sure to stick your hand out before getting too close so it can smell you first.

No. 2: The Hyundai Tucson looks just as mad leaving

The tail section of the 2022 Hyundai Tucson is sharp and angular, like 1980s computer graphics. The taillights might be the first aspect of the back-end redesign that you notice as well it should be, but there are some really cool hidden features, too. The windshield wiper is totally hidden below the rear spoiler. The whole design aesthetic on the back of the Tucson is meant to make use of and get rid of the “unnecessary negative space,” according to Sang Yup Lee, the lead designer for the Tucson.

No. 3: A razor-sharp profile

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson continues its theme of aggressive design all the way down the sides of the dragonesque physique. Some aspects harken back to the massive land yachts from the late ‘50s, like the contoured chrome strip that runs the length of Hyundai Tucson starts very thin and widens to a flared out accent. Even the angular shapes within the wheel go toward the overall mosaic of aggressive and strong aesthetic.

No. 4: The Cabin pauses the aggression for a calm, open layout.

MotorTrend points out that Hyundai designers simplified the dash by giving the infotainment screen flat incorporation. The button layout to the air vents is incorporated into the long lines that flow throughout the interior. It is clear Hyundai wanted a cohesive and airy cabin that ads to the luxury aspects of the brand.

No. 5) The back seats

It’s not exciting, but the back seats are what makes an SUV what it is. The whole point of this segment is to have a vehicle to have plenty of space to cart around people with plenty of room. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is wider, taller, and longer than ever before. This gave the Hyundai designers more room to build more room in the rear interior. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has legroom and headroom enough to spare.
