Most people want their cars as affordable as possible, but other folks feel the opposite. Luxury cars are worth the price for those who can afford them, but many are more expensive than the average luxury vehicle. That’s where the hypercar comes in. Here’s a look at the top five most expensive cars in the world in 2021.

5. Aston Martin Valkyrie, $3 million

According to The Drive, the Aston Martin Valkyrie is the fifth most expensive production car. It packs a 6.5-liter V12 hybrid engine, harnessing 1,160 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. Its design looks similar to a Formula 1 car, and that’s because it’s based on one.

That said, like other hypercars, the Valkyrie is ultra-rare, typical of the most expensive cars in the world. Overall, Aston Martin plans to make only about 150 examples, and they’re all reserved.

4. Koenigsegg Jesko, $3 million

The Drive says the Koenigsegg Jesko is the successor to the Agera RS, one of the world’s fastest cars. Priced at $3 million, the Jesko has a 5.1-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that makes about 1,280 hp. When using E85 fuel, that V8 can produce over 1,600 hp. This powerful engine could push the Jesko to hit 300 mph. 

The Jesko might also be the fastest car Koenigsegg will ever produce. However, it also has a limited production run of 125 examples. And, yes, all are already reserved.

3. Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, $3.6 million

Like the Jesko, the Sián is “Lamborghini’s fastest car to date,” Lamborghini claims. The Sián is equipped with a 6.5-liter V12 hybrid engine with a supercapacitor instead of batteries. A supercapacitor is lighter than a battery pack, and it provides plenty of torque in this Lambo.

This hybrid engine gives the Sián about 819 hp combined. In terms of performance, the Sián can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and tops out at 217 mph. 

And, of course, the Sián is an exclusive car. Lamborghini says it will produce only 63 examples. Once again, they’re sold out. 

2. Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, $3.6 million

The second most expensive production car right now is, unsurprisingly, a Bugatti. The automaker produces very few cars, and they’re well known for their high speeds and sticker prices. The Pur Sport is both of those things.

Though it has the same 8.0-liter turbocharged W16 engine as the regular Chiron, the Pur Sport is sportier. This is mostly because it weighs about 100 pounds less than the standard Chiron.

And like other most expensive cars in the world, the Pur Sport is exclusive and sold out. Bugatti will build only 60 units.

1. Pagani Huayra Tricolore, $6.5 million

The most expensive production car in 2021 is the Pagani Huayra Tricolore. It’s not only the priciest but also the rarest. That’s because Pagani will build only three units, The Drive reports. With only three examples out in the world, they’ve almost certainly been bought up.

But as The Drive said, because there will be only three Tricolore examples, it’s debatable if it’s really a production car. However, though it might not be the fastest car in the world, it is still a hypercar. It’s based on the Huayra, and Pagani says used some of the best parts available to make it, including an 840-hp V12 engine.

Plus, the automaker claims it’s “the highest representation of aviation technology applied to a car: from materials to production processes.”
