SUVs are excellent vehicles for long road trips. Not only are they spacious for passengers, but they feature plush interiors and can usually haul a good amount of equipment. J.D Power made a list of the top five new SUVs with the most cargo space based on a combination of price, ratings, and passenger room. Let’s see which five made the cut.

1. 2022 Kia Telluride

Price: $33,090-$48,460

We found the 2022 Kia Telluride to boast high ride quality, luxury features, and a third row that can comfortably seat adults. J.D. Power put the Telluride at the top of their list. This new SUV has 21 cubic feet behind the third row and 87 cubic feet when both rows are folded. It’s also fuel efficient, thanks to its 21-mpg combined.

2. 2022 Volkswagen Atlas

Price: $33,335-$51,505

The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is a midsize SUV that features advanced technology features. It also happens to be VW’s largest model in the lineup. The Atlas features 20.6 cubic feet of space behind the first row and a max capacity of 96.8 cubic feet. It also achieves 22 mpg in fuel efficiency, so you won’t have to spend too much time at the gas pump.

3. 2022 Honda Passport

Price: $37,870-$45,430

The 2022 Honda Passport is the model that sits perfectly in between the CR-V and the three-row Pilot. It features an all-wheel drive system for those who like to take their adventures off the trails.

You’ll find more than enough storage space inside this SUV. The cargo capacity of 100.7 cubic feet makes this a good vehicle for camping, hiking, and other outdoor adventures. 

4. 2022 Lincoln Navigator

Price: $76,710 – $106,025

The Lincoln Navigator has been redesigned for the 2022 model year. Now, this new SUV comes equipped with Active Glide, which is a limited hands-free driving system. Under the hood, you’ll find the turbocharged V6 engine. There are also plenty of driver-aids to keep you and your loved ones out of harm’s way.

Inside, there are 19.3 cubic feet behind the third row and 57.5 behind the second. The total amount of space is 103 cubic feet. Upgrade to the Navigator L, and you’ll gain access to 120.3 cubic feet of cargo space – talk about impressive!

5. 2022 GMC Yukon

Price: $51,600 – $75,000

Finally, we have the 2022 GMC Yukon with some small changes for the new model year. This three-row SUV can seat nine passengers and has incredible towing capabilities. Along with a lavish interior, it’s powered by a robust V8 engine.

If you need the most cargo space possible, the Yukon might be your top choice. The GMC Yukon XL is the extended version. It boasts 144.7 cubic feet behind the first row, 93.8 cubic feet behind the second, and 41.5 cubic feet behind the third row.

Which new SUV is right for me?

The answer depends on your needs. For the most amount of cargo space, you’re going to want to go with the GMC Yukon. If you’re looking for a more affordable option, the Kia Telluride and Volkswagen Atlas are great options as well.
