The Jeep Wrangler is made for one thing and one thing only. If you don’t plan on tackling a trail in a Jeep model, you may have the wrong SUV or truck. Jeep’s flagship vehicle excels at off-roading, everything else, on the other hand…not so much. There are plenty of SUV and truck options that provide more value, better fuel economy, and better ride comfort than Jeep models. The Wrangler doesn’t even come close to the top vehicles in its class.
Daily drivers should be comfortable, especially if you use your SUV to commute to work. Jeep models aren’t necessarily known for providing a smooth ride. If you want a great SUV you can drive every day, the Toyota RAV4 is a good choice. If you want something you could battle tough terrain in on weekends, the Jeep Wrangler is the SUV for you. The Wrangler, like most Jeep models, is a one-trick pony. Never buy a Jeep Wrangler as a daily driver if you don’t want to deal with awkward on-road performance and reliability issues.
Jeep Wranglers are as unreliable as they are extreme
Jeep models don’t have the best reputation when it comes to reliability. Even the popular Wrangler has been plagued with plenty of recalls and issues over the years. Most consumers want SUVs with affordable ownership costs. Choosing a Jeep model means dealing with potential reliability issues. As the great Forrest Gump said, “you never know what you’re gonna get” when dealing with a Jeep Wrangler.

Never buy a Jeep Wrangler if you don’t know a good mechanic
If you are a professional or aspiring mechanic, the Jeep is a dream come true. You will almost always have something that can be fixed or improved. If you are the average driver that does little to no maintenance without paying a mechanic, the Jeep Wrangler can be a nightmare to own.
If you can put aside the Jeep Wrangler’s lack of comfort, lack of daily practicality, and unreliability, ask yourself: “can I afford to own this?”. Think long and hard if you don’t know a good mechanic. When it comes to the Jeep Wrangler, you either hate it or love it; either way, it’ll keep crushin’ trails and death wobbling.
