According to Kelley Blue Book (KBB), the 2021 Toyota Avalon Hybrid has a cheaper cost to own than the Chrysler 300 and the Volkswagen Arteon.

The 2021 Toyota Avalon has a starting price of $37,850. However, according to TrueCar, you’ll have to spend an additional $1,025 for the Hybrid XLE, putting the starting price at $38,875. That money buys you a hybrid 2.5L inline four-cylinder engine capable of some significant fuel savings.

The benefits of that fuel efficiency are apparent over time. According to KBB, running the Avalon Hybrid will cost an average of $5,582 over five years. That’s nearly $4,000 less than the Volkswagen Arteon.

The Toyota Avalon Hybrid is relatively inexpensive to insure compared to some of its competitors. The Toyota hybrid sedan costs an average of $4,980 to insure for five years, around $500 cheaper than a Pentastar V6-powered Dodge Charger SXT. However, the Volkswagen Arteon is more affordable to insure by nearly $200 over the same period. 

Should you buy a Chrysler 300 or Volkswagen Arteon instead?

If you want a full-size car with the cheapest cost to own, the Toyota Avalon Hybrid is a great choice. Also, with the highest fuel efficiency on KBB’s list of full-size picks, the savings could continue over time.
