The Toyota Land Cruiser isn’t long for this world. 2021 is its last model year, but that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of the Land Cruiser. In fact, the Toyota Land Cruiser is the longest-kept SUV, so you can catch a glimpse of them cruisin’ around for at least another decade.

The Toyota Land Cruiser outlasts the average new vehicle

The Toyota Land Cruiser is not a cheap SUV. That being said, the Land Cruiser can last its owners a very long time. According to a study conducted by iSeeCars, the average new vehicle is kept for approximately 8.4 years. The same study found that the average new Toyota Land Cruiser SUV is kept for 11.4 years. The Toyota Land Cruiser is the longest-kept SUV by far.

The average driver puts approximately 13,500 miles on their vehicle per year. Land Cruiser owners get more than 40,500 extra miles out of their vehicles than drivers that purchase the average new vehicle. So why do Toyota Land Cruiser owners keep their SUVs for an additional three years?

One of the main reasons that Toyota Land Cruiser owners keep their SUVs longer is because they are so reliable over time. The Land Cruiser is composed of thicker metal than most other vehicles. It is designed to stand the test of time, unlike other vehicles in the industry that last under 10 years.

The Toyota Land Cruiser can easily last over 200,000 miles without needing major repairs. Another iSeeCars study claimed that the Land Cruiser is actually twice as likely to reach 300,000 miles as the average new vehicle. The Toyota Land Cruiser is the longest-kept SUV because it easily reaches higher mileage with fewer issues than most average new vehicles.

The Toyota Land Cruiser’s large price tag and reliability are major factors in why owners keep the SUV for so long. Land Cruiser owners also keep their SUVs for longer than the average new vehicle because it is capable of more than the average new vehicle. The Land Cruiser is an off-roading staple.

The 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser makes a massive 381 horsepower using its 5.7-liter V8 engine. It comes standard with four-wheel drive for the most traction control possible. Even the base model includes heated and ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel. It also comes standard with skid plates and front and rear tow hooks, so this thing means business.

The Toyota Land Cruiser will forever be remembered as a luxurious Toyota SUV that could off-road with the best of ’em. Luckily for us, even though the Land Cruiser is discontinued, older models will still be out and about for years to come.
