Toyotas make up half of the fastest-selling cars

iSeeCars studies how long it takes cars, minivans, pickup trucks, and SUVs to sell around the United States. Each month they publish a report detailing the average sale time for vehicles overall, as well as individually. In September of 2021, ten out of the top twenty fastest-selling cars were Toyotas. Of those ten vehicles, five are hybrid models. That’s an astonising number, considering that hybrid and electric vehicles are only just starting to gain in popularity. These hybrid toyotas include the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid at spot number ten, the 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid at sixth place, and the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime Hybrid taking fourteenth place. The 2021 Toyota Corolla Hybrid also nabs a spot in fifteenth place.

It isn’t just hybrid Toyotas, though. The other five Toyotas rounding out the top twenty fastest-selling cars include the Toyota Sienna. The 2021 Toyota Sienna was the fourth fastest-selling vehicle in the United States in September. Beind the Sienna is the 2021 Toyota RAV4 in fifth place, followed by the 2021 Toyota CH-R in eighth. The 2021 Toyota Tacoma is the seventeenth fastest-selling car in the country, while the 2021 Toyota 4Runner is nineteenth, and the 2021 Toyota Highlander is twentieth.

Why are Toyota pickup trucks and SUVs so popular?

Toyotas have a reputation for being safe, reliable, and stylish, which contributes to them being the fastest-selling cars. They typically sell well, and last for a long time. The ability to personalize your SUV or pickup truck is a huge selling point for many Toyota owners as well. For example, recently Toyota revealed the 2022 Toyota 4Runner, and with it the opportunity to order it in a shocking green color, which many Toyota enthusiasts revel in.

Additionally, the fact that Toyota is putting out so many hybrid vehicles is contributing to their popularity. Hybrid and electric vehicles are really starting to catch on, and people are loving the range of options that they have in Toyotas.

Toyota has been facing massive shortages

Part of the reason that Toyotas might be the fastest-selling cars is because they’ve been facing the same shortages as all the other car manufacturers. A lack of microchips combined with disruptions in the supply chain are leading most, if not all, car manufacturers to be facing setbacks. In fact, Toyota had to cut production in September. this resulted in a 40% drop in global production, and reduced the availability of Toyotas by 70,000. That kind of shortage can lead to higher demand, thus the fastest-selling status of so many Toyota SUVs and pickups.

If you want one of the Toyota SUVs or pickup trucks on this list, you should probably act quickly. That is, if you can’t wait for it. The problems facing car manufacturers aren’t expected to end anytime soon, and that means that consumers will likely be facing higher prices for some time. Still, if you absolutely can’t wait, keep your eye out and jump on a good deal when you see one. Who knows how long it will last.
