Not every Toyota model has the same claim to fame. Larger Toyota SUVs are considerably more reliable than the compact options. For example, the Toyota RAV4 falls behind the Toyota Sequoia and Highlander.

The Toyota RAV4 isn’t the most reliable SUV in the lineup

While the Toyota RAV4 serves as a practical, durable, and long-lasting SUV, it doesn’t have the same claim to fame as the Toyota Highlander or Toyota Sequoia.

iSeeCars compiled a list of the top 30 cars that are the most likely to reach over 250,000 miles and the RAV4 didn’t earn a spot. However, other Toyota models take up the top five slots and Toyota is the most reliable brand.

The average chance that a car has to surpass 250,000 miles is 8.6% and the RAV4 has a 9.6% chance to make it. The Toyota Sequoia is in second place, with a 36.4% chance. That’s 4.7 times the average.

Also, the Toyota 4Runner is in third place with a 26.8% chance. Then the Toyota Highlander Hybrid comes in at fifth place with a 25.9% chance. Also, the gas-powered Highlander is in 17th place with a 15.7% chance.

The RAV4 did make it on the list of the top 20  SUVs that are the most likely to surpass 250,000 miles, though. It came in 18th place with a 9.6% chance of lasting over 250,000 miles.

But just because the RAV4 is less likely than its siblings to get there, doesn’t mean it’s not a reliable SUV. It still has an above-average chance of making it!

According to J.D.Power, the 2024 RAV4 has a reliability rating of 76 out of 100, which isn’t the best look. But it’s an average score, so that’s good. Anything between 70 and 8- is average while scores between 81 and 90 are above average.

The average Toyota RAV4 model is actually expected to reach 300,000 miles. But proper maintenance and regular care is necessary.

The RAV4 is the most popular SUV for multiple reasons, but if you want something to stand the test of time consider one of Toyota’s larger SUVs.
