The Toyota Tacoma APEX Could Destroy the Ford Ranger Raptor
You need to buckle up for a wild ride because the Toyota Tacoma is gearing up for battle. The new Toyota Tacoma APEX is coming after the Ford Ranger Raptor, and the Chevy Colorado ZR2 with a super truck build. We can’t wait for the Tacoma to put more skin in the game.
The Toyota Tacoma APEX will fight the Ford Ranger Raptor
Who says that monster trucks have to be big? With the Ford Ranger Raptor and updated Chevy Colorado ZR2, off-roading battles are about to happen on a smaller scale. But most importantly, the Toyota Tacoma APEX doesn’t want to be left out.
While the Tacoma is already seen as one of the best off-roading trucks available, it doesn’t have a super beefy trim option with extra power. The Tacoma TRD Pro has been shutting rivals down without breaking a sweat.
But the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor and 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 could finally have a chance to be better than the Tacoma TRD Pro unless the Tacoma APEX slams the competition again with something a little more hardcore.
What to expect with the Tacoma APEX
According to Ford Authority, the Toyota Hilux, which is the global version of the Tacoma, is getting off-roading upgrades for more high-speed desert racing power and off-roading prowess. This new trim level could be called the Toyota Tacoma APEX.
We have mixed feelings about this name. It seems like the Toyota Tundra APEX would make more sense as the top predator against the Ford F-150 Raptor and the Ram 1500 TRX. However, The Ranger Raptor brings a dinosaur title to the mid-size truck game.
The Tacoma APEX could be based on the Toyota Hilux Rogue, with additional upgrades. It’s expected to replace the Toyota Hilux Rugged X model too. Hopefully, we will get the APEX in America. It would attract interest against the Ranger Raptor.
The Rogue features a wider track for more stability with a longer front suspension arm and front stabilizer bar. The rear axle and dampers are positioned closer to the wheels, and there is a new rear stabilizer bar.
These updates provide a 20 percent increase in rigidity and a smoother ride on the pavement. The Rogue sits on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in rugged all-terrain tires, and the disc brakes were replaced by 17-inch ventilated front disc brakes.
When will the Tacoma be redesigned?
We could see the new Toyota Tacoma APEX in 2024. We will see the redesigned 2023 Toyota 4Runner first and could provide clues about what to expect. The new 4Runner and Tacoma will ride on the updated TNGA-F platform.
It’s possible that the 4Runner and Tacoma could gain a new hybrid engine or borrow the unit that powers the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Rumors suggest that a fully electric Toyota Tacoma model is also in the works.
Unfortunately, we will have to wait a few months to learn more about Toyota’s plans, but big changes are already underway. The Tacoma may already dominate the scene, but the new APEX variant could help it stay on top.
