The electric future is inevitable

The electric future is no longer just an exciting theory, it’s practically inevitable. As a result, automakers like Ford are electrifying some of their most popular nameplates. The Blue Oval gave the Ford F-150 a redesign and electric powertrain to create the F-150 Lightning.

Other automakers are following suit and developing EVs based on popular models and models that are completely novel to the industry. Toyota has produced the bZ4X electric SUV, and Lexus will be producing an electric SUV as well. Several major automakers have set goals to electrify 40% of vehicle lineups by the year 2030.

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Electric will excel at off-roading

Toyota has teased an EV pickup concept showing what an electric Toyota Tacoma could look like. The midsize truck’s exterior is interesting, but fans of the Taco are really excited about the vehicle’s capabilities.

Electric vehicles have proven to be efficient at off-roading because of the instant torque provided by electric powertrains. They also don’t stall the way gas-powered off-road vehicles do when faced with certain obstacles. The Rivian R1T is the first electric truck to show the world what an EV can really do off-road.

The R1T easily bested the Hell’s Gate off-road obstacle in Moab. The capable pickup shows how great a Tacoma Electric could be off-road. The Toyota Tacoma is already capable off-road. The idea of an electric powertrain making the Taco even more capable off-road makes some fans absolutely giddy.

Rivian and Ford have already produced electric trucks. General Motors developing electric trucks. It’s time for the Toyota Tacoma to go electric because it would be the first midsize electric pickup. Toyota has a rare opportunity to make a huge impact on the market.

What we know about the Toyota Tacoma Electric thus far

According to Car and Driver, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Electric has an estimated starting price of $50,000. It will likely share qualities with the next-generation Toyota Tacoma. C&D also claims that the Tacoma Electric should share traits with the redesigned 2022 Toyota Tundra. Toyota has revealed very little regarding an electric Tacoma, but we do know that the EV would have incredible off-roading prowess.
