According to Edmunds, the 2022 Toyota Tacoma provides more value than the 2022 Jeep Gladiator. The 2022 Honda Ridgeline actually has the most value with its smooth ride storage solutions. But it can’t do as much as its rivals.

The Toyota Tacoma outranks the Jeep Gladiator because it’s a rugged off-roading option with stout towing and payload figures. The incredibly capable Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro starts at about $36,555.

However, the Jeep Gladiator ranks above competitors such as the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma because it’s a truck that does Jeep things. You can remove the roof and doors.

The Jeep Gladiator Rubicon trim starts at $50,705 but comes with upgraded axles, suspension components, and tires to make adventuring fun.

Does the Gladiator or Tacoma have a better performance?

The base engine in the 2022 Toyota Tacoma is a 2.7-liter four-cylinder unit with 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. It’s a little lackluster, but you can upgrade to the 3.5-liter V6 engine for 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.

With the 2022 Jeep Gladiator, you get a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. You can opt for the 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine for 260 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. Both trucks offer a manual transmission.

The Tacoma can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.8 seconds. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 6,800 lbs and carry a payload capacity of up to 1,685.

The Gladiator isn’t far behind, with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 9.8 seconds. But it can tow up to 7,650 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,200 lbs.

For off-roading, the Tacoma features a 9.4-inch ground clearance, a 32.0-degree approach angle, and a departure angle of 23.1 degrees. It’s 75.2 inches wide with a 124.0-inch wheelbase.

The Gladiator has an 11.1-inch ground clearance, a 43.6-degree approach angle, and a 26.0-degree departure angle. It’s 78.3 inches wide with a 137.3-inch wheelbase.

Does the Tacoma or Gladiator have better features?

Both the 2022 Toyota Tacoma and 2022 Jeep Gladiator have a standard 7.0-inch touchscreen that can be upgraded to an 8.0-inch unit. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and you can opt for more USB ports and a wireless charging pad.

The Tacoma comes with standard forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. These features are available with the Gladiator.

The base price for the Tacoma is $27,150, and the entry price for the Gladiator is $37,170. But the Gladiator does come with standard 4xe and more power.

Some people prefer off-roading in the Tacoma because its smaller size makes it easier to climb over obstacles and traverse narrow rails, but the Gladiator is more robust and capable.

Both off-roading trucks are great for adventuring, but the Tacoma can help you save thousands with more standard features, making it the more valuable truck.
