Skip the Toyota Tundra and Choose One of These Alternatives Instead
There’s a lot to like about the Toyota Tundra. It’s known for being reasonably reliable, can tow up to 10,200-pounds when properly equipped, and can be had with a long list of desirable features. But, unfortunately for the Toyota Tundra, it’s not the right fit for everyone. Fortunately, there are several alternatives to the Toyota Tundra worth checking out.
The Ram 1500 is a luxurious alternative to the Toyota Tundra
If you’re hoping to spoil yourself, the Ram 1500 makes for a great alternative to the Toyota Tundra. Its interior offers plenty of space, best-in-class rear legroom included, and is available with a class-exclusive reclining rear seat. This year’s model also offers up tech-savvy features such as a head-up display, Harmon Kardon premium audio system, along with multiple ultra-fast USB charging ports.
That’s not all either. According to Consumer Reports, the Ram 1500’s interior is pretty upscale. Consumer Reports isn’t the only one to have said that, either. In fact, Car and Driver reports that the Ram 1500 is raising expectations among the entire pickup segment. Car and Driver added, “Higher trims add upscale materials and creature comforts that make the Ram feel more like a luxury vehicle than a pickup truck.”
As for the Toyota Tundra? According to Car and Driver, “The Tundra’s interior is spacious and dotted with oversized features, but it’s an outdated presentation and the materials in most models feel cheap and rubbery.”
The Ford F-150 is a cheaper alternative to the Toyota Tundra
Trucks are expensive. There’s no denying that. It shouldn’t be all too surprising then that the Toyota Tundra is also expensive. Opt for a base model Tundra, and you’ll be spending a minimum of $33,825. Upgrade to the SR5, and you can expect to pay just over $35,000. The Tundra only gets more expensive from there too. Choose the range-topping Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, and you’ll find yourself paying nearly $49,000 on this year’s Tundra.
Fortunately, there are cheaper alternatives to the Toyota Tundra. Take, for example, the Ford F-150. With a starting price of $28,940, this year’s new Ford F-150 is significantly cheaper than this year’s Tundra. The F-150 can be had in several more affordable trim levels too. So if you’re hoping to treat yourself to a model that offers even more features but don’t want to break the bank while you’re at it? Then the F-150 makes for a pretty great alternative to this year’s Toyota Tundra.
The Chevy Silverado will have you towing more than the Tundra
Say price and luxury features don’t matter all that much to you. Maybe, what’s most important to you, is how much a pickup can tow. If that’s the case, then the Chevy Silverado makes for the perfect alternative to this year’s Toyota Tundra. But don’t just take our word for it.
Choose a Chevy Silverado equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 under the hood, and this year’s model will have you towing a maximum of 13,300-pounds. As for the Toyota Tundra? This year’s model is only able to tow up to 10,200-pounds when properly equipped. That’s a pretty big difference.
Is the Toyota Tundra a bad truck?
No, not even close. In fact, the Toyota Tundra has plenty going for it. It’s capable, reliable, and able to tow a considerable amount. But when it comes down to it? The Toyota Tundra may not be the right fit for you.
