Triumph Lets the 2022 Bonneville and Scrambler Shine Like Gold
Earlier this year, Triumph announced that it was partnering up with watchmaker Breitling on some future collab projects. But while those projects are still under wraps, Triumph doesn’t need a partner to put out some limited-edition bikes. Even before No Time to Die hit theaters, for example, the company released a James Bond Edition Scrambler. And now, the Triumph Bonneville and Scrambler are getting some flashy lines—Gold Lines, to be exact.
The 2022 Triumph Bonneville family gets the Gold Line treatment

Triumph updated the entire Bonneville family for the 2022 model year. And that family includes not just the actual Bonneville, but also the Speedmaster, Bobber, and the Street and Speed Twins. But in the Street Twin’s case, its updates weren’t solely mechanical: it also got a limited-edition Gold Line model. And now, apart from the Speed Twin, the rest of the Bonneville family is getting one, too.
You don’t have to love gold like Goldmember to appreciate the 2022 Triumph Bonneville Gold Lines
Mechanically, the 2022 Triumph Bonneville Gold Line models are identical to their regular versions. The differences come down to cosmetics.
As the name suggests, each Gold Line motorcycle’s fuel tank features hand-painted gold striping as well as a ‘Gold Line’ insignia. And while it might seem flashy to some, it has historical precedence, Cycle World notes. Triumph offered gold striping for decades in the past, including on the classic Bonneville. So, in a way, these new cosmetics are throwbacks.
Plus, each Bonneville Gold Line bike has a model-specific touch. For example, the T100 and T120 have hand-painted gold stripes on their side panels and new logos. The Bobber and Speedmaster have similar side panel stripes as well as new logos, too. However, the T100 and T120 have silver-and-green side panels with white-and-gold logos while the cruisers have black panels with gold-and-silver logos. Meanwhile, the T120 Black has silver side panels with a black-and-gold logo, and the Street Scrambler has black panels with a gold logo.
Also, each 2022 Triumph Bonneville Gold Line bike has color-matching mudguards and optional flyscreens.
Triumph is also giving the 2022 Scrambler 1200 some Gold Line bling

Triumph isn’t only giving the 2022 Bonneville lineup some shiny Gold Line pinstripes, though. Its off-road-capable Scrambler 1200s are getting the same hand-painted treatment as well for 2022.
Like the Bonnevilles, the 2022 Triumph Scrambler 1200 Gold Lines have ‘Gold Line’ logos to complement the new pinstripes. Plus, like the Street Scrambler, they have brushed-foil knee pad graphics as well as black side panels and headlight bowls.
Will these limited-edition bikes be worth seeking out?
Each of these Gold Line Triumph motorcycles should arrive in US dealers by December 2021. And they’re one-year-only models: after 2022, they’re gone. The pricing guide is as follows:

In the case of the 2022 Speedmaster and Bobber, the Gold Line models are about $1000 more expensive than the base versions. With the other Bonnevilles, the difference is $750-$800. The price difference is $800 for the Triumph Scrambler 1200 Gold Lines, too.
Given that these are cosmetic tweaks, picking between the base and the Gold Line bikes is a matter of personal taste. However, $750-$1000 for hand-painted elements isn’t that expensive, given how pricey paint often is. Custom motorcycle paint jobs with hand-painted features often start at $800, NADA Guides notes.
