The Truck With the Best Seats Isn’t the Ford F-150 or Toyota Tundra
It can be easy to assume that the truck with the best seat quality could be the Ford F-150 because it’s the most popular option. However, what about the Toyota Tundra and its reliable reputation? Those are good guesses, but the actual truck with the best seat quality is the Ram 1500. Check out how the 2023 Ram 1500 beats the competition in another crucial area.
The 2023 Ram 1500 is the most comfortable truck
Critics have already mentioned for years that the Ram 1500 has a superior ride quality against all rivals. It has a coil-spring setup in the rear and an independent suspension in the front for the smoothest performance.
While the Toyota Tundra recently gained suspension upgrades, it just doesn’t dampen smaller impacts as well. Also, the Ram 1500 has more sound insulation materials to provide a quieter cabin.
Now its superior comfort is being recognized on a different level. J.D.Power recognized the Ram 1500 for having the best seat quality. The best seat quality is measured by the number of problems and satisfaction experienced during the first 90 days of ownership.
A lower score is better, and the study is based on survey responses from 93,380 vehicle purchasers and lessees of new 2023 vehicles after 90 days of ownership. The study took place from February to May.
The Ram 1500 earned a 5.4, the Hyundai Santa Cruz came in second with a score of 6.7, and the GMC Sierra HD rounds up third with a score of 7.5. The Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra didn’t make it in the top three.
2024 Ram 1500: What’s new?
The 2024 Ram 1500 will primarily be a carryover model. The Ram 1500 refresh won’t happen until 2025. So, it’s safe to expect the new truck to be just as comfortable as before with the same suspension setup and seats.
However, we could see a few new special editions emerge, like the Built to Serve Edition honors military members, EMTs, or firefighters. Don’t forget about the (RAM) Red Edition, which aims to help global health emergencies.
We could see a new luxury-oriented model as well. Currently, the Ram 1500 Limited is the most lavish trim, with a four-corner air suspension to raise and lower the ride height, deployable running boards, premium leather bucket seats, and a 12.0-inch infotainment system.
Other goodies include a wireless charging pad, heated/reclining rear seats, built-in navigation, parking sensors, heated/ventilated front seats, a power tailgate release, a power sliding rear window, and a spray-in bed liner. The Ram Limited starts at $63,160.
Will the new Ram truck have more power?
The 2024 Ram 1500 isn’t expected to have more power. It will probably have carryover engines, and the 2025 model could gain more muscle for the mid-cycle refresh. But the 2024 Ram REV will pack electric heat.
The most potent engine for regular models is the 5.7-liter V8 unit with 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. We are mourning the loss of the efficient EcoDiesel engine, but its discontinuation makes room for further innovations.
Production already ended as Ram moves toward electrification. Also, the Ram 1500 TRX features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.
The 2025 Ram 1500 should receive the new Hurricane engine. The twin-turbo 3.0-liter Standard Output variant cranks out 420 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque. The High Output model provides 510 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque.
Stay tuned for updates because the 2024 model could drop by the end of the summer. Plus, electric power is on the way. Until then, the Ram 1500 is still the king of comfort.
