The Truck With the Best Value Isn’t the Toyota Tundra or F-150
We have some surprises in the truck universe today. You may expert the Toyota Tundra to provide the most value per mile or the Ford F-150. But there’s a potential upset heading your way, especially if you aren’t a Chevrolet fan.
The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 has the best value per mile
People love arguing about trucks and their stats. The Toyota Tundra has a massive reputation for reliability and lasting forever, while the Ford F-150 sits on the throne as the best-selling truck.
But we have a few figures to actually place the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 ahead of the competition.
iSeeCars performed a massive study to find the car with the best value based on its average lifespan. It analyzed over 8.3 million vehicle prices sold between September and December with over 181 million vehicle odometer readings from the longest-lasting vehicle study.
On average, each new vehicle costs roughly $2,779 per 10,000 miles of its life span.
The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 has the best results in the full-size truck segment with an average new car price of $57,129, a cost of $2,863 per 10,000 miles of use, and an average life span of 199,544 miles.
Then the 2023 Toyota Tundra comes in second place with an average price of $64,824, a cost of $2,868 per every 10,000 miles, and an average lifespan of 226,032 miles.
So, the Tundra typically lasts longer than the Silverado, but it has higher costs that bring its overall value down.
The 2023 Ford F-150 is actually in fourth place with an average new sale price of $61,554, a cost of $3,469 per 10,000 miles, and an average lifespan of 177,465.
This study shows that the most popular truck has some answers to provide because the F-150 isn’t going the distance and is more expensive.
The 2023 Nissan Titan is in last place with an average price of $57,758, a cost of 4,008 per 10,000, miles, and an average lifespan of 144,155. But the Titan is being discontinued, so another option will take last place next year.
It shouldn’t be that surprising for the Chevy Silverado 1500 to win because it has a solid reliability rating.
J.D.Power gave the 2023 Silverado a reliability rating of 80 out of 100, which is average. The 2023 Tundra earned a reliability rating of 78 and the 2023 F-150 also earned a 78.
If you’re feeling indecisive about which big 2023 truck to buy, maybe learning that the Silverado 1500 has the best value per mile will help.
