Only 2 2022 Ford Expedition Trims Are Worth Buying
If you’re considering buying a brand-new full-size SUV, the 2022 Ford Expedition is an option. As one of the most popular SUVs, it’s earned its reputation. For the 2022 model year, the Expedition is touted as a comfortable model with an excellent ride quality, a luxurious interior, and a strong V6 engine. However, there are many trim levels in the lineup, so which should you choose? The lineup has seven trim levels, but only two 2022 Ford Expedition trims are worth buying.
Which 2022 Ford Expedition should you buy?
You’ll find many different answers when searching for the best 2022 Ford Expedition trim. Within the lineup, seven different models vary significantly in equipment. Moreover, it’s worth noting that the cheaper XL and XLT trims are worth buying if you simply need a three-row SUV with plenty of interior space for a great price. Although the lower models aren’t as value-filled, they’re still viable options.
However, like other experts, we think there are only two Expedition trims worth buying. The Limited and Limited Stealth Performance models offer more than any other version of the Ford full-size SUV. Starting at $68,795, the Limited trim is more costly than the XL and XLT models but far cheaper than upper trims, like the King Ranch and Platinum. It’s difficult to disagree that the Limited trim offers the most value when it has standard heated second-row seats, front parking sensors, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, and much more.
Edmunds recommends the Expedition Limited
Firstly, Edmunds thinks the 2022 Ford Expedition Limited is the one to buy. Just like MotorBiscuit, the publication believes it offers the best value of any model in the lineup. “It comes with a fair share of luxury features, such as a power tailgate, power-folding running boards and leather upholstery, as well as nice-to-have features including an upgraded audio system, front parking sensors and heated second-row seats.”
Additionally, it says the Stealth Performance package is another excellent option. It adds a more powerful engine, a sport suspension, and a blacked-out exterior trim. Although this isn’t an entirely new Expedition model, the Stealth Performance package makes the Expedition stand out completely from a standard Limited trim. However, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 (440 hp, 510 lb-ft) makes it cost much more, starting at $78,685.
Car and Driver agrees the 2022 Ford Expedition Limited is the best
Alternatively, the experts at Car and Driver usually recommend higher trim options than Edmunds. However, for the Expedition, the publication agrees with its colleague. C/D says the Limited trim or the Stealth Performance version are the only ones to buy.
“We think the middle-of-the-road Limited trim level on the regular-wheelbase Expedition is the one to get. Not only does it have a nice mix of standard features (leather-trimmed seats, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, and power-operated running boards), but it’s also available with an enticing Stealth Performance option that makes the big rig better to drive.”
In addition to the Stealth Performance upgrades, four-wheel drive costs extra. It’ll be another $3,000 for any version of the full-size SUV to get 4WD.
2022 Ford Expedition trims worth buying
In conclusion, only two 2022 Ford Expedition trims are worth buying. The Limited is the best answer if you’re looking for a luxurious full-size SUV with excellent amenities. It’s got much more to offer than lower trims without breaking the bank the way upper trims require. Additionally, those looking to boost performance can add the Stealth Performance package, gaining an upgraded engine, among other things.
