The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat arrived last year as the brand’s latest model to get the now infamous supercharged V8 engine. However, even hardcore Dodge fans might’ve missed out on this massive Hellcat SUV due to a relatively small production run. In fact, the run of 2,000 units sold out in a matter of weeks.

According to Motor1, the American carmaker plans to fire up its assembly line once again to meet the insatiable demand. Unfortunately, there is no public statement available regarding exactly how many will be built.

How much is a 2021 Dodge Durango Hellcat?

While the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat existed originally in small numbers, it seemed these would take some time to sell in the first place. That’s because this SUV has a base price of $80,000. For context, a base model Durango starts at just over $33,000. If you add up all of the options available for this model, you’re looking at a six-figure SUV with all fees accounted for.

While the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is officially sold out, that doesn’t mean you can’t have one. In fact, a quick search on Autotrader reveals at least 64 of these SUVs available for sale on a national level. However, as you might expect, some of these aren’t selling for MSRP.

Since these SUVs are sitting in lots across the U.S., dealers have the ability to price them at will. One example for sale in Florida has an asking price of $120,960 despite having a $95,980 MSRP. However, since we’re getting more of these SUVs on the way, this pricing scheme could be severely disruptive.

How many more of these SUVs will we get?

While no one likes greedy dealership tactics, chances are they won’t stop anytime soon. The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is only the latest in a long line of low-volume, high-performance vehicles sold in the U.S. As a result. Dealerships know that supply for these vehicles will remain low enough to sell for inflated prices. This could change with more available units.

According to Bob Broderdorf, Director of Dodge Operations North America via Dodge Garage, more of these SUVs are on the way. In terms of specifics, we only know that “some” are coming. However, there is no official timeline.

“As we finalized the production plan for this amazing SUV, we found a way to move some 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V8 engines from other vehicles to ensure every ‘sold order’ in our systems will get built.”

How fast is a 2021 Dodge Durango Hellcat?

While an $80,000 SUV is undoubtedly expensive, the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat offers plenty of value. As mentioned earlier, under its hood lies the infamous supercharged 6.2-liter V8 out of several Hellcat models. In this application, the engine pumps out 710 hp and 645 lb-ft.

All of that power goes to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. In terms of outright performance, this massive SUV can hit 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.
