The Latest Ultra-Rare Acura TLX PMC Edition Comes In a Special NSX-Derived Color
Acura has produced many different PMC Edition models to date, and it isn’t stopping any time soon. For the unaware, the PMC Edition models are hand-assembled at the brand’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio with extra care and unique paint jobs. The latest creation is a TLX shod in a special NSX-derived color for an especially sinister look.
The new Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition will have an ultra-limited production run
The last time we saw a PMC Edition of the Acura TLX, it was painted in a choice between Long Beach Blue Pearl, Curva Red, and 130R White. To spice things up a bit, Acura just released the newest TLX Type S PMC Edition, which will be finished in Gotham Gray matte paint – the signature color of the brand’s NSX Type S supercar.
Another similarity the new Acura TLX PMC will have with NSX Type S is that it will be limited to a production run of only 50 units. Some additional exterior aesthetics include Berlina Black-painted door handles and lower side-sill garnish, in addition to NSX-inspired 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli summer tires. The TLX will also have a gloss carbon fiber decklid spoiler, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, and black-chrome exhaust finishers to complete the car’s menacing look.
The special treatment continues to the interior of the car with carbon-fiber interior trim panels, illuminated side sills, and premium floor mats with Type S badging. These accents match the Red Milano leather interior well, contrasted with black stitching and Ultrasuede inserts. Lastly, each TLX PMC will have its own numbered plaque to designate it as a limited-edition vehicle (1 of 50).
How much horsepower does the 2023 Acura TLX PMC have?
Although Acura made enhancements to the TLX PMC’s interior and exterior, it didn’t make any enhancements under the hood. As such, this special model of the TLX has the same turbocharged 3.0-liter engine as the regular Type S model. The force-fed powerplant pushes 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. Sadly, a manual transmission is not available.
When will this new version of the Acura TLX come out?
Acura says this latest version of the TLX PMC should show up in select dealerships in the spring. However, it won’t come cheap as the car’s MSRP is set at $66,995, which includes the destination and handling charge. That’s about $11,500 more than the current 2023 Acura TLX Type S model, which carries similar performance and equipment.
Is it worth the extra cash? Sure, if you’re the type that needs to have the latest and rarest car on the block. Although, to anyone that isn’t privy to Honda and Acura vehicles, this new version of the Acura TLX Type S may not look like anything special. After all, even the limited-edition Honda Civic Type R just looked like a yellow version of the model – despite its weight savings. We will say that this new TLX PMC does have a really cool paint job, though.
