The Gallardo filled a 16-year gap in Lamborghini’s lineup as the first entry-level model since the Jalpa. Until the debut of the Urus SUV, the V10 younger sibling to the company’s flagship model was the best-selling model ever. Despite their relative ubiquity in the supercar world, there were a plethora of special editions. Luckily, one of the ultra-rare versions, a Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale is now on the auction block.

What is the Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale?

As its elongated name implies, the special edition Lambo is about as close as potential buyers can get to a raging bull race car. It’s aimed as a road-going version of the LP 570-4 Gallardos in the single-make European road-racing series—the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo. Since it’s styled as a race car for private sale, it has lots of race-y bits on it. For instance, an adjustable rear wing straight off the Super Trofeo car and a quick-release engine cover.

Aluminum wheels and an extensive use of carbon fiber save 150 pounds over the standard Gallardo. While the weight shedding means it weighs roughly as much as the Superleggera, its structure boasts two and a half times the downforce. Car and Driver says the Lambo is good for a 3.4-second 0 to 60 mph sprint dumping the clutch in “Thrust Mode” and spinning the V10 to 8,000 rpm.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale was built in 2012 and 2013. Only 150 were built, and each had a starting MSRP just north of $250,000.

Since it’s a second-generation Gallardo, it has a host of upgrades over its predecessor. One of the most significant improvements was the engine. Whereas the first generation had a 5.0-liter V10, the newer model Lambos have a 5.2-liter powerplant. The results are 563 horsepower and 398 pounds-feet of torque going to all four wheels via a six-speed E-gear transmission.
