It’s time to revisit the classic truck battle between the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Ford F-150. While the 2022 Ford F-150 sells more units than the 2022 Chevy Silverado, the Silverado just gained a significant edge against the competition.

The people have spoken! According to the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, the 2022 Chevy Silverado is better than the 2022 Ford F-150. The Silverado landed in first place, while the GMC Sierra came in second place.
This isn’t much of a surprise since the Silverado and Sierra are twins. However, the Ford F-150 came in third place! Truck owners may have to reconsider what to buy as the Silverado offers more quality.
The Initial Quality Study is based on a survey with 226 questions that are sent to thousands of vehicle owners. They use it to answer questions about their vehicle’s ride quality, performance, towing capacity, comfort, tech, safety features, and more.
Does the Silverado or the F-150 have a better performance?
The 2022 Chevy Silverado comes with a 2.7-liter inline-four engine with 310 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the 5.3-literV8 engine for 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.
Also, you can opt for the 6.2-liter V8 engine for 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engine cranks out 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
The 2022 Ford F-150 has a standard 3.3-liter V6 engine with 290 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. Next up is the 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.
You can opt for the 5.0-liter V8 engine for 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, while the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged engine cranks out 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. Last but not least, the 3.5-liter hybrid V6 engine provides 400 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque.
The Silverado can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.2 seconds. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 13,300 lbs and carry a payload of up to 2,030 lbs.
Meanwhile, the F-150 reaches 60 mph in about 6.2 seconds, but the Raptor and Lightning are a little faster. The F-150 can tow up to 14,000 lbs and carry a payload of up to 3,250 lbs.
Does the Silverado or F-150 have better features?
You can get started in a 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 for $34,600, and the 2022 Ford F-150 comes in at $30,870. The F-150 has more passenger space, but the Silverado has better cargo solutions and storage cubbies.
The F-150 has a standard 8.0-inch touchscreen, but you can upgrade to a 12.0-inch unit. The Silverado features a massive 13.4-inch screen. Both trucks offer built-in navigation, premium audio systems, and digital gauge clusters.
Both trucks have standard automatic emergency braking. But the Silverado also includes blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
The Silverado seems to make drivers happier and offers a diesel engine with plenty of value. However, the F-150 has more towing power and a hybrid engine.
