U.S. News’ 7 Quietest SUVs Let You Skip a New SUV with an Irritatingly Loud Interior
The luxury SUV segment features the highest level of technology and premium materials. However, enjoying their luxurious surroundings is difficult in a cabin inundated with road, wind, or engine noises. Thankfully, the following seven SUVs feature a quiet ride that allows you to enjoy the drive.
The 7 quietest new SUVs you can buy in 2022
U.S. News & World Report says a noisy interior is “one of the most irritating and distracting issues in modern cars.” So to help you find an SUV with a pleasantly quiet cabin, the outlet has compiled a list of new SUVs that offer an extra level of serenity.
1. 2023 Cadillac Escalade
First on U.S. News’ list of the quietest SUVs is the 2023 Cadillac Escalade. Though, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the $79,295 2023 Cadillac Escalade features a quiet, comfortable cabin. U.S. News calls the Escalade a “benchmark luxury SUV,” featuring quality materials inside a “coddling, quiet interior with space to spare.”
2. 2023 Volkswagen Atlas
With a starting price under $34,000, the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas costs less than half the price of an Escalade, but don’t count it out too fast. As the largest vehicle in Volkswagen’s lineup, the Atlas features a “spacious interior” with quality materials and “comfortable accommodations across all three rows.” It’s also one of the quietest new SUVs on the road today, reports U.S. News.
3. 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE
The $55,700 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a midsize SUV that offers two rows of seating for five or an optional third row to increase the seating capacity to seven. The name Mercedes-Benz is synonymous with quality and luxury. The GLE lives up to that reputation with quality cabin materials, a quiet ride, and what U.S. News calls “a legitimate luxury experience.”
4. 2023 Volvo XC60
The $43,650 2023 Volvo XC60 is at the top of its class as a luxury compact SUV. It’s also one of the quietest SUVs you can buy. And, while topping the compact luxury SUV class may not sound impressive initially, U.S. News notes that the XC60 competes well with other luxury SUV models like the BMW X3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. U.S. News reviewers feel strongly about the XC60, using terms like “infinitely comfortable seats,” “top-notch materials,” “enough sound deadening to build a bank vault,” and class-leading “visually appealing cabin.”
5. 2022 Lincoln Navigator
With a $76,710 starting price, the 2022 Lincoln Navigator enters the Cadillac Escalade’s territory and comes out with the large luxury SUV crown, thanks to a recent refresh, with U.S. News ranking it at the top of the class. Reviewers found the Navigator’s interior “quiet and relaxing” with “exceptional materials and build quality.” The review rates Navigator’s interior quality better than other luxury SUVs.
6. 2022 Kia Telluride
At $32,790, the three-row 2022 Kia Telluride costs less than the other SUVs on this list. But its interior is “surprisingly upscale and spacious,” according to U.S. News. The Telluride’s low price and superb quality combine to offer not only one of the quietest SUVs on the road today, but also a vehicle that offers excellent value.
In the base configuration, the Telluride provides seating for eight, but the optional captain’s chairs in the middle row reduce the seating capacity to seven. While the captain’s chairs offer easier access to the third row, they’re not necessary as even adults will find the back row accessible and comfortable.
7. 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L starts at $41,000 and continues as an off-road capable luxury SUV. The new Cherokee L model features three rows of seating with an “expansive passenger compartment” that provides “whisper-quiet luxury and space for the whole family,” according to the U.S. News review.
Is one of these SUVs better than the others?
Any of these new SUVs will provide a comfortable, quiet ride, so the one that suits your family the best is a matter of personal preference and budget. The Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator indeed provide a level of excellence all other SUVs hope to emulate, but they come with steep price tags. However, the Kia Telluride presents an attractive package of quality and luxury at less than half the price.
