Minivans are a perfect vehicle for larger families or any drivers who frequently have multiple passengers, and a used minivan can be a great, economical choice. U.S. News has ranked the top used minivans that can be found for more than $20,000 available today, and Honda dominated the list. In fact, the top four used minivans on the list were all Honda Odyssey models. 

2017 Honda Odyssey

U.S. News lists the 2017 Honda Odyssey as one of the best used minivans that you can buy for more than $20,000. As the oldest of the four Odyssey models on this list, the 2017 model is the least expensive used minivan in the group with a starting price of $22,739.

In terms of fuel economy, the 2017 Honda Odyssey gets 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. This is more or less the same for each of the four Odyssey models on this list. 

According to the U.S. News review of the 2017 Odyssey, this minivan can fit seven to eight passengers, and the Odyssey received praise for its comfortable ride and impressive handling. The quality of the materials on the minivan’s interior was also highlighted as a high point, which means that used models will likely still be in good condition.

One potential downside to this model year of the Honda Odyssey, though, is that it was the last model before the minivan underwent a redesign. You may save a few thousand dollars by choosing a 2017 Odyssey, but buyers interested in things like updated infotainment features may want to consider models after 2017.

2018 Honda Odyssey

As stated above, the 2018 model year marked a major redesign for the Honda Odyssey. This new Odyssey sports a sleeker design than the 2017 model, and the redesign brought some other changes as well. In terms of price, the 2018 Odyssey can be found for a starting price of about $24,491. 

U.S. News states that a major addition for this model year of the Honda Odyssey is a responsive infotainment system. This came as an optional feature, so when shopping for a used Odyssey, be sure to keep an eye out for it. 

In the U.S. News rankings of best used minivans, the 2018 Odyssey was placed at the top of the list. This is likely because the model years that came after it are largely the same but are sold for higher prices. 

2019 Honda Odyssey

The second model year to sport the Honda Odyssey’s new design, the 2019 model is just as strong of a minivan as the 2018 model. Used 2019 Odyssey models can be found for about $27,730. 

In a review of the 2019 Odyssey, U.S. News said that this minivan has no major changes compared to the previous model year. This may mean that it isn’t worth the extra money, but it is still a great used minivan. It features the same 280-horsepower V6 engine and comfortable ride as the previous model year.

2020 Honda Odyssey

Ranked as the second-best used minivan by U.S. News, the 2020 Honda Odyssey is also the most expensive Odyssey on this list. Buyers can expect to pay at least $32,165 for the 2020 model. This is expensive, but it makes sense considering how new of a minivan this is. 2020 Odyssey models likely have low mileage, so they should last drivers a long time. 

Whereas the 2019 Odyssey did not have any new features compared to the previous model year, the 2020 model does feature a major change. According to U.S. News, the 2020 Odyssey comes standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
