The cheapest electric vehicle (EV) in Tesla’s lineup isn’t too much of a compromise, especially in the Long Range trim. In fact, even a used model can go toe-to-toe with some of the most popular and capable EVs on the market. A used 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range can go further on a single charge than some newer EVs, like the 2023 Kia EV6.

How far can a Tesla Model 3 go on a full charge?

Tesla claims the 2022 Model 3 Long Range can cover up to 358 miles on a single charge. However, the standard trim and the newer 2023 model have lower claimed ranges.

Standard RWD272 miles
Long Range358 miles
Performance315 miles
Long Range (2023 model)333 miles

Still, despite its popularity and segment-challenging range, Tesla didn’t produce any of the Long Range trims in Q1 2023. Instead, fans had to wait months to get their hands on a 2023 model. Moreover, the 2023 Long Range dropped its overall estimated single-charge range from 358 in the 2022 model to 333 miles in the 2023 iteration.

Despite being older, the 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range has a longer range than these four new mainstream EVs.

Of course, 2023 models like the Subaru Solterra, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volkswagen ID.4 all have larger footprints, with between 27 and 30.3 cubic feet of cargo volume. Still, the 2022 Long Range’s 358-mile estimate establishes it as one of the best bargains in the segment for the model year. However, the slippery 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 claims a staggering 361 miles on a single charge, three miles further than the 2022 Model 3 Long Range, per TrueCar

Is the 2022 Tesla Model 3 worth buying?

The 2022 Tesla Model 3 boasts a segment-leading range in the Long Range trim and performance bargain status in the Performance trim. However, the newest Long Range trim drops its maximum range estimates, while the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 boasts longer range estimates at a comparable price.
